I hope he plys the walls, dot n dabs and stains every last tile.

No starting Friday when my new toy arrives.

What gets me is the fact he hunted a tiler out on here and he lives literally 50 doors up the street now the plumbers are doing it.

Usual from plumbers..

Oh I can do that!!!

Would like to hear him/her on the Phone when it all goes Pete Tong.

"Rock bottom Price"

Gonna be a rock bottom job.

go slash his tyres ....robbing git...!!!...this just about sum's up everything we've been on about lately, every other trade thinking anyone can tile..

If you's didn't guess by the name the wholes jobs travertine. Polished edges etc i was providing, told him I'll fix it when it goes wrong. Second issue was I stuck a 9p on the cc thinking this job would cover it...cheers ya ***

I really would send then pictures of failed bathrooms where a cheap spec has been used. And ask if they still think 'you're over the top'. It's clear you're not going to get the work but its always nice to be able to say 'I told you so'

hahaha - I can see that going well.

Leave them to it mate. Hopefully they'll call you back when poo hits the fan.

I've filled his slot now so happier days. I've told him its not just for water resisting, he needs the boards for the weight! Told him to watch out for dot n dabbing tiles. If anything I'm gonna make him graft for his rock bottom price !!!!

You can only hope that this muppet of a plumber makes a complete ar55e of it.......then you can go around and laugh as you walk away.

Always makes me wonder if there is some sort of recourse through contract law if they have already agreed to your doing th job and thn reneging.....

Unless there were materials involved I wouldn't bother.
Next time you reply to a disgruntled customer on here lamblasting a tiler for dot and dab or anything else, remember they chose the fixer and most of them deserve what they get!

take a deposit for every single job it stops them behaving like this

It's the only way, I took a 5k deposit cheque the other week and I don't order any materials until it's cleared. No way am I getting caught out on materials or losing the job.

It's shows commitment from the customer to you and with any deposit it's highly unlikely they will will go elsewhere!!!

My sister is a lawyer currently specialising in contract. She's on the case now. I have hundreds of texts from him including the confirmation and also the fact I've ordered a 9p to do this job which he was happy to wait til delivered, built to order from Italy.

gonnna go for a run this is boiling my head now.

I'm not sure whether a text can be treated as a contract like a signed order but I'm sure it would be very close to being one.

As they say, the spoken word flies, the written word remains!!

one thing iv'e learn't being self employed is some customer couldn't give a toss about how much they mess you about, and couldn't care less if it cost you time or money..

Always take deposit for work now. As kilty has said, it stops any sillyness from customer. I took 1500 this week for a hob that's hit a problem but I know i won't get done over

Nice bloke this Terry the scummer ! he needs to get a life piking other peeps work from under there noses ,. and the customer is scum as well by the sounds of it, to go back on a handshake i wouldn't be able to sleep at night...........

They deserve each other. Let them tear away at it, you've got other work filled in now anyway.

The mark of the man, dropping you by text.

Hate it when this happens ,but its probaly not the last time it will happen am with john on this if your supplying all materials then a cheque to cover said materials should be first and foremost, labour only then i'd be mad but things happen and wouldnt ask for a deposit because i would lose the work,we can all talk about other trades tiling and not doing the right specs but at the moment that is how the building trade as a whole is, people are scared to spend megabucks when someone will do the same job(to a lesser spec)for a lot less, most punters dont wanna here about this that and the other they want tiles on the wall or floor for the cheapest price possible, thats he world we have been in for the past few years and probably will be for a few more.
They dont want to here about tanking kits ,aqua boards etc they want the tiles they have bought layed and will usually go for the cheapest quote ,sorry state of affairs but thats the economic climate we are in.

You want to be careful how much info you give back to the customer because I fear it will filter back down to the plumber and be used for his benefit, also sounds very much like the customer has been convinced/taken in by the 'charms of the plumber

Hopefully the customer will be starting a new thread on here in a fortninght, asking for help regarding his bodged up bathroom..

For a laugh, I'd be tempted to call him and say yeah you're right, I'll lower the spec, chuck in some materials at cost and beat Terry's price, get him hooked, book him in, then cancel on the morning of the job, ha.

Or burn his house down!

I don't mind. If the plumbers doing it at rock bottom at least I've cost him the price of a ten mm trowel. Cos I know he won't have one!!!!
