[Time's Ran Out]

I've been working away this week and ran out of adhesive!
Popped into a Tile Showroom in Farnsworth ( near Bolton) at 8-15 this morning. No one answered the automatic doorbell for 5 minutes, then it took another 5 minutes from pressing the assistance bell for a 'lady' to come down the stairs and serve.
I asked for a bag of fast set white adhesive which was displayed at £10-95 a 20kg bag - Palace stuff, but reasonable cost. I presented my business card and she replied - Oh trade is it - Yes, not one of ours though - No, you wont be back again as it's a one off - not from Newcastle No. Well that will be £10-95 then!!!!!!!!!
Why is there not a Egon Ronay style award for Tile shops.
I told her to put the 5p in the box and hoped she didn't have to work near me in Newcastle - the miserable old witch.
Worst customer relations I've come up against for a while - but then she's probably thinking the same about me.

You've got to love topps TJ, I was in there a couple of weeks go passing some time while my van was being MOT'd next door. They had some vitrex mixers on offer and I asked if they came in 110v. "No only 1400 watts" was the reply!!

Lol, quality. So take it TJ is talking about a Topps store then? Well there's no excuse not to give a discount if he holds a gold card. Can be used throughout the company

There's nothing worse than bad service. There's no excuse not to give you discount as your trade. Especially the fact it was for 1 bag!

At £10-95 I didn't expect more than £1-00 and would have put it in the blind box, but she took it that as I wouldn't be coming back she'd charge retail.
And she's right, next time I'll just go to BQ and pay the extra and I wouldn't go back.
Attitude - no wonder it was empty.

I had a similar thing when buying a TV a few years ago. Had 1k burning a hole in my pocket for a new TV and the assistant was putting 2 TVs that were at opposite sides of showroom together so I could compare the quality side by side. Manager came and said he couldn't do that for customers. I said to the manager have a look round the shop and see how many customers they had in, it was empty. Then I said to the guy who was serving me, when the manager asks you why you haven't hit your targets this month you can pinpoint this as a missed sale. He was gutted. I went elsewhere, an independent retailer who went out of his way. Ended up with TV and stand I wanted with £300 off it.

You cannot beat customer service, Went back there to buy a home cinema system and spent another £750

£10.95 is a very good price. That probably was trade!! I pay £18 !!!!!!!

I bought something in a charity shop just before Xmas. £2.95. I said put the change in the box (5p). She asked me if I wanted a bag, I said yes please. 5p she said. I said excuse me. We charge 5p for our bags she said. I looked at my 5p in the plastic charity box, and said 'No, it's ok I wont have a bag.

As I originally posted 10-95 was a good price. They advertise tiles at Internet prices, but this is a retail showroom and they obviously have a trade list. If you are paying much more than that for this particular adhesive then you should be ordering Weber - its white and you can use it all, not beige and continually cleaning it out of your bucket.
We also went for a meal and the waiter/owner asked if we were going to add a tip to the debit card payment!
I must have just wanted to get back home.
