I have a chippie floor to do(28m2). There are tiles down just now but i think they are on top of vinyl tiles. There pretty solid, no cracks or any movement on them. The substate is concrete.
So whats the best way forward? Only have 2 1/2 days to get job done.

1. I was gonna tile on tile but now thinking twice about it ? Doesn't really cause any height problems but just don't like doing it.

2 Rip up tiles, but my worry here is the time factor. If i rip them up and vinyl tiles stay down do i just slurry coat them and then tile ?. For the slurry coat(never done it before) i'll use SBR and addy mixed runny. Is this correct. If so how long before i can then tile on the slurry coat.

3 Rip up tiles and heat up vinly tiles to get them up. How long roughly will the addy stay tacky. Can i just prime over it then tile?

Thx.

rip all you can up, if vinil tiles stay down, put something like this Sopro HPS 673 on it ( i show german`s one becouse i dont know what exacly is on UK market), after that self-leveling and then tile. It is almost impossble to do it in 2 days becouse selfleveling compoud has to dry at least 12 hours ( it depends on manufacturer and product) then tile ahdesive need to dry about 24 h before grout( you can use rapid adhesive C1F or C2F, you can grout after 3h or 6h depends on manufacturer).

Does Laticrete sell their SLC #86 in the UK? If so, you can get that down and be on it setting tile within 4 hours. It is more $$$$ than their #84 (which doesn't cure as fast), but when rapid turn-around is needed it's the one to use.

Ardex also has one that is rapid, but it has been years since I used it and I don't recall the number.

when you say "chippie floor" do you mean chipboard? if so, why not overlay with hardiebacker?

Lol. Sorry Doug, Scottish slang for a Fish and Chips shop. Looks like it will be tile on tile though. Wall tiles come over the top of the floor tiles so would mean breaking bottom row.
