I know i do not run this anymore but here is an idea...

Entries are low some months and i had an idea...

If Admin do away with JOTM tag and keep it too the JOTY tag .. this then keeps all those JOTM winners and new comers chasing that elusive JOTY tag..

Yes it is only a once a year win but hey it is worth it isn't it..?

Just a thought...

Also what happened to getting more prizes..?..

We have quite a few member support accounts here and i am sure they will donate each month as this helps promote them as well , this was something i was working on before i stepped down , so maybe Neale could pursue this matter.

Deffo needs a bit of a shake up Dave but, even Dan offering £500 doesn't seem to have sparked anymore entries. Perhaps it's just a quite start to the year for a lot of people. Could possibly offer something for everyone who enters, even if its just a t-shirt or something.

Yeah I think he offered it in December, but it's still in this months prize fund, I don't think there has been a month with 10 or more entries since I joined. It's another one of those things that needs a bit of time spending on it, like the forum t-shirt/mug/pen/sticker thing, I think most people are too busy to be able to help out. Maybe Dan needs to hire a forum secretary :lol:

You are the forum secretary Bri, have you ordered the pens and mugs yet? On a serious note I think low numbers could be due to people being put off after seeing a great job posted that they don't think it's worth trying to compete against. Is there anyway jobs could be entered and all pictures revealed at the same time towards the end of the month? Just a thought.....

Suppose it depends on what sector you're in and how often you enter. Plenty of high end tilers here but plenty more including myself just doing run of the mill kitchens and bathrooms week in week out. Let's face it, we'd rather look at Jonny's work than some bog standard porcelain kitchen floor.

I take plenty of pictures of my jobs but there are very few that I feel are interesting enough to enter into JOTM.

Agree with peter, high end work is scarce, would never dream of submitting one of my bathrooms against phils geometrics or garys sleek porcelains. I appreciate there can be more work in a normal bathroom at times high end work is always gonna win. Why don't we have a job of the week for all us commoners lol

I'll be honest and admit that the only time I enter is if I've done something a bit high end, some stone or porcelanosa or on one occasion, a geometric floor but, what people need to remember is that now JOTM is in the public forums, potential customers could see your work and see the quality of it, even if it is with run of the mill tiles, this could lead to work. Forget about the competition and think of it as a way of promoting your business and showing the care and pride that you take in your work

it can be very daunting when faced with some of the superb work posted and most of the time you can't get back to take pictures when the rooms are completely finished and second fixed all credit to whoever enters as even some jobs that only receive 1 vote are top class jobs

This is where i miss out , posting pics of just the tiling to an unfinished room is not good enough to enter .. I might know how much work goes into .. say a stone room but average joe doesn't .. but add a sink and a bog etc then it is finished :lol: ...

I do hope to enter soon but i am so finicky , i want to enter with something nice!!
