Right, I have finally pulled my finger out and purchased a second hand car today. Totally different to any of the options I had originally thought about

It's a 2003 Volvo S40 1.8i, in the lovely old man gold colour they used to do , 1 owner from new, FSH, 100k miles, brand new MOT, electric windows all round, air con, heated seats, drives very well despite it's age and mileage. Even though it's a saloon, it's got a nice big boot space which will be perfect for a baby buggy (or golf clubs + trolley so I'm told :yikes: ) And all for £1800!

Picking it up next Saturday. Back to the good old days of driving a big car and no more Girl Racer 🙁

Good choice I reckon 🙂 Volvos are safe as houses... had one as a company car for a short while and yes, it was good  But GOLD!!! uhm....

Mr GRR's car currently is a Volvo Gisela and that's what persuaded me to go for another one. Nice and sturdy built, not a lot goes wrong with them, and nice and comfortable to drive. I think I will cope with the gold. We used to have a bright yellow Skoda and you don't notice the colour when you're inside the car

Nice one GRR........ Nice sturdy car, which is perfect for a mums taxi. Although you may have jumped from Girl Racer Red to Gran Racer Red.....(;0)

I have just put up a post about buying a second hand car. How strange!

Well done, I really like the Volvos but you may have to change your name now, unless you get a bad *** body kit and whale tail put on it

Could be worth it when your cruising around in a bad boy like this!

All the 15 year olds would think you were well cool!

Health to enjoy the new motor Liz.
Volvo's are superb.
On site this week the two joiners were both in volvos !!
Plus my Danish mate drove one for 200 years (lol).

GRR now formally known as GRG

Girl Racer Gold!

Go on dave/dan you know you wanna change it 😱

Bargain Liz, My brother has a C30 R-Design and its awsome, I like it so much that i've decided my next motor will be a volvo R-Design, probably one of the bigger saloons though as apose to the smaller C30.

I'll be sad to see this one go back to the lease company 🙁

Yeah but in the blue! Volvo really have improved the look of their cars over the last 5 or so years

picked up my family motor this morning. she doesn't half shift. left Mr GRR behind on the motorway several times and I was only doing 70!

the guy at the garage seems to put the car in tip top shape for me. it had just been washed when I picked it up yesterday and hubby went under the bonnet today expecting to have to top up fluid levels and he couldn't find anything to do

all my bits and pieces (cd's, hi vis vest, petrol can etc) are back in the boot where they should be and I'm ready for the trip to work in the morning.

only thing left to do is get myself some breakdown cover. Green Flag seems to be one of the best of the big companies, from what I've seen on their website. I can cover the car (any driver driving the car) for £72 to include national recovery and relay, fix at the roadside and home start. bit of a bargain really.

I got myself a volvo estate when I first started out in the tiling game, only cost me £500 and had done 140,000 miles, I had it a year and to be honest abused it quite a lot! Got it MOT'd before I sold it and it flew through, all my chavving aroung and thrashing it didn't touch it, they are very well built cars and you will change it for a new one before it gives in. Good buy

Mr GRR is looking for a V50 next and we've just spotted one at the garage at the top of the road. just going to take the puppy dog for a quick walkies. back later

Liz have a look at this for breakdown cover. I can vouch for the Autoaid as i had this once or rather my mum did and i managed to blag her policy saying i was her spouse 🙂 You pay on card then claim in back from them. I got my money back within 10 days

well I went too fast over a speed ramp this morning and banged the front end of the car into the road 😳 I'll have a look at any damage done tonight. I didn't realise the suspension would be that soft as I'd already cleared two of the ramps before getting to that one, and it looks fairly lame but obviously isn't  might have to uprate the front suspension springs at the first opportunity I get. I'm not used to bouncy motoring, give me stiffened race suspension anyday

You do know your not ment to take them at sixty and your probably the first Volvo driver to take a bump at speed....... Think your going to have to get Mr GRR to put a speed limiter on for you (;0)

I can just see little baby in the back seat bouncing up and down over those speedramps.... Muuuuummy!! Or - faster, faster, Mummy!!
