All my WB sponges have always been 'segmented', ie sliced into one inch squares if you know what I mean.I understood this to be able to 'move', the grout about! My new sponges are 'solid', any thoughts lads on whether this will affect performance, Thanks

Just use your utility knife john and cut segments into them....the segments grab the grout better...

the ones I got with my KD were solid, but I prefer the segmented ones too, I think the water comes out easier as well

just got a new one from tradetiler and its a solid one - i was expecting a segmented one!
will it work the same dave if you chop it up yourself?!

You don't exactly chop it up.....just use a sharp stanley type knife and run the square slits in it..about half way through...

Message received:

Ordering in some best quality segmented ones from Germany ASAP

Will be on the tradetiler site soon

If i can only get the solid ones I just cut segements into them with a stanley, never really noticed a difference between ones bought cut or cut myself.

I use both Siri solid sponges and Rubi segmented ones. The solid ones fare better if you've had one cup of tea too many whilst waiting for the grout to set :incazzato:although I personally prefer the segmented ones:smilewinkgrin:

You are right there more than once thats happened ol

Never tried the segmented ones as i got solid ones with my karl dahm, might give them a go when Dave gets them in and see what all the fuss is about:lol:

sorry dave I disagree much prefer solid sponges as in my experiance having used both the segmented sponge pulls the grout out

the corners of the sponge in a segmented sponge are many a solid sponge has only four so less chance of pulling the grout out

Must be your technique.....coz my sponges don't... but as long as your choice works for you then thats what counts.....ye!!

I`ll wait till there in then dave then i`ll place an order for some, want a new rubi cutter and a few other bits aswell so i`ll keep checking

i have used both and it depends on the sponge, most are rubbish and hold the water no matter how many times i run it across the rollers
I will be getting some uncut sponges from David/TT soon.
I used the uncut version from TT and had no problems they are cheaper than the slit sponges and i can wield a utility knife with some accuracey i also prefer his hydro sponges they a proper good!
