i have been asked to do a tiling job, my queery is this ,,with the height of ply ,adhesive, and tile ,the height is quite a lot ,when tiling up to a door, i would try to finish my tiles halfway under the door up to the carpet, which means trimming door, not a job i would like to take responsibility for, is there any way round this ie can you finish up to door, how do the tilers get round this problem, thanks

yes that's right you tile under the door, half way. so you will prob need to shave it(quite easy really) or pay someone else to do it

I'm not a professional tiler but finishing up to the door edge (assuming the door opens away from the tiles) will mean a threshold strip that extends over the edge. Not very asthetic.

This assumes that there will still be a gap under the door when the strip is laid and there is enough carpet for the strip to cover.

The only real option is to trim the bottom of the door IMHO. (BigAndy beat me to it!)

I have a Karlton door trimmer, takes about 10 seconds to trim the door and no need to remove.
