swimming pool

hello everyone.just had a call from a customer who has a friend who has a swimming pool.over the years about 10 small mosaic tiles have come loose from the sides and bottom of the pool and he wanted to know if there was anything on the market that could stick them back on without draining the whole pool,which means sticking them back on underwater.i said it was very unlikely,but that i would find out for him.i know there`s a pool specialist on this site somewhere,so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.thanks in advance for your help. dave.

I have heard of it being done but don't have any idea how. You'd need some diving gear or be able to hold your breath for a long time!!!

yes you can get adhesives that set under water.
i havent ever done it and i dont know any names off hand.
they use the same fast reacting cements or epoxy's that they use to pour concrete under water when constructing bridges over rivers/seas etc...

someone on here will have done it or used a product. i spoke to a guy once who used to repair tiles in pools and he made a lot of money. used to put on divers gear to do the work!!

it`s not a deep pool,so fixing shouldn`t be a problem as long as i can find a suitable adhesive.

Link didn't work, but if you google underwater adhesives, it will give you the info. I remember a mate of mine doing a repair in a pool, using sub-aqua gear

Many years ago - possibly 1976 ish - Ardex promoted X7 during a time of water shortage by showing the repair to a swimming pool with a diver going down to a prepared tile with a tile in a plastic bag with the adhesive on the back. It was one of the first waterproof adhesives.
