I am sick to death of my little van, its can hardly carry half my kit and the pig keeps breaking down on me. Unfortunatly I am still paying for the usless matal donkey but I am about to pay it off.

Sooo I want to know what you guys use and would recommend, I need something about VW transporter sized that isnt going to brake down on a weekly basis.

:driving:

it is times like this when you just know who you need to call...

What you got already that your not happy with?

04 plate Vauxhall combo. Picked it up with 16 thousand miles on it, 3 years old, air con, remote central locking, side loading door, reversing censors and full bulk head with no windows. Brilliant... Until every part that could possible die, died.

Thank you guys, the transported would be my first chioce but as Scottley said, I just cant afford one and the pug experet is not big enough (I have a lot of gear). Think I will have to start looking for transits.

Renault trafic 2007 with a 2.0 turbo donkey turboed too does my job extremely well. 115 BHP and I have it well filled with tools. Very reliable and easy run.

Get all my gear in my peugeot Expert..TX900, Radial arm saw, plus all my other tools..Just as much room as a transit.

My van is three and a half years old now, 41,000 miles and still great.
Now i know its handy for carrying pallets of tiles and adhesive etc but i love the VW's and believe one of them will be next, the caddy possibly but more likely the transporter if the business goes well over the coming few years.

I have a nissan primastar se 115 on a 57 plate , bought it from new ,it's got central locking and deadlocks, electric mirrors, electric windows and a rear park sensor, very useful doing london jobs when parking, its the best van I have ever owned,a pleasure to drive and the fuel ecconomy averages out at about 35mpg combined, I will definately buy another one and highly recommend it good luck with you choice of van

Ford Transit Van
246 k miles the other day and she /he is fine as long as you use her/he/it
i only filled up 4 times last year as i was sorting a house on my street it was the most expensive year for the van and im sure its because i didnt use it enough great van and i will be selling it soon i think but i would highly recommend one but the parts are expensive unless you have a transit reclaim yard close by

mine as broken down yet again today just now i am goin to set fire to it . but must take my tools ot first

Thought about a Renault Trafic?
Plenty available, and not too much money. Great fuel economy as well.
Watch out for abused examples.

I've had my Renault Trafic for six years. (from new etc)
In that time i haven't had a single fault.
It has done 53,000 miles and has only needed two services(with third due) with the first being free.
I have paid for oil/filter changes between services (9000 miles), as i cannot believe waiting 18000 can be good.

I did over do it with the extras!
It was my first brand new van so went wild.
Built in colour satnav, common now but rare for vans six years a go.
Solar reflect windscreen,leccy windows/mirrors,central locking/deadlocks,aircon.
I also went for the 140 BHP 2.5 which is powerful for the size of van.
I then had it remapped to 175 BHP. It was mainly for fuel economy (80 miles more per tank), but also made it much more fun!

These pictures were taken before i had some alloys fitted.

It will be going in a few months as i need a larger van.
I will probably stick with Renault, but this time get the new shape Master.

The worst van one of our plasterers has is the Mercedes Vito.
Bought at the same time as the Trafic, it has been nothing but trouble.
Latest fault was the alternator going. Cheapest we could get it fixed (quick) cost £490...
Also, both side loading doors have started to rust at the bottom edges.
Funny, we thought the Trafic would be the problem van, yet not a single fault or spec of rust.

The Ford Trasit is still the cheapest van to run.
It tops the list for reliability as well. Again look out for abused examples.
Watch out for Pikeys...
