Problem with quartz tiles

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I tiled pink quartz tiles and the customer asked for black grout,Topps said to check it on a tile as black grout might stain it,I did check and it did stain it,so I sealed them all as instructed left it 24 hours and checked it again.still the same but the customer insisted that I just grout them and deal with it after.
so been washed several times and dusted down but still stained.the customer has tried turps and its not worked.
i wondered if there is a product out there to strip them back?
the customer is taking full blame as I tried to talk them out off the black grout but I'd still like to help them out.

maybe you should have applied more coats of seal..3-4 coats then trying it on a sample..

hindsight is a great thing..
try a few of cuts with black grout on it and see what works whether it be grout residue remover or grimex
good luck

Neat Acetone is what you need to clean them, (nail varnish remover).

I used to manufacture Quartz, in the factory they use Acetone to remove any issues.

Acetone is good for removing the polymer pigment residue you have on the surface as Alan says....

I've seen those tiles, I think my words were 'my god', the lime green are equally as odious!!!!

Has it just feathered the edges where it may have come in from the side that may not have been sealed or is it over the whole face of the tile. If it has feathered the edges then i think you will not resolve. If it is all over the surface then perhaps suggestions above may work. It would good to know reference acetone and if it worked

Try filasr95

That's fundamentally sodium hypochlorite, which is a traditional "poltice" used in stone masonry.

That would be an ideal solution for localised staining but it's going to struggle for any kind of volume of area. Think of that more as a product that would remove a cup ring from a red wine stain.
