oli can you help? I was really:thumbsup: impressed with your info on trowels /adhesives/weight ratios etc which will help me a great deal and was wondering if you could help me with pricing as i was asked for my first quote yesterday. When you give a price for example a bathroom , do you include the materials or is it your price plus materials?, also could you give me a rough price guide e.g bthrooms, kitchen splashbacks full kitchens etc oh and how do you charge for installing a new substrate or levelling out a floor?. would be really grateful if you could help me out . thanks jay glasgow

Jay, there is a huge amount already written in the forums about pricing. Try doing a search and see what comes up.

Oli is based in a different place to you and his pricing will be determined by the market forces in the area so what he can charge may well be different to what you will be able to charge.

To answer specifics in your question, I personally split out labour and materials and I also split out the job into distinct sections, i.e. 1 section for levelling/prep, another for the actual tiling and so on.

I normally price kitchens on a day rate as they can be quite fiddly and time consuming, floors will normally be matre rate unless it is small then day rate. Bathrooms can be fiddly or not, it depends on the bathroom and can be priced with either method like the floors. it depends which works out best for you.

looking for a bit of advice guys . When pricing jobs do you price the job plus materials or include them? for example say 450 for a bathroom plus materials or included? thanks jay glasgow also how much to charge for levelling out floors/ renewing walls with plywood, plasterboard etc?:huh2:

Hi Jason, I moved your original question to Oli to it's own thread in the Tiling Forum. I'll combine the 2 together.

I normally just price my labour and tell the customer whats needed, and if they wish I can get them the materials trade price.
