Just about to do some B&Q wood effect 600x150 floor tiles.

The client doesn't fancy herringbone and I don't think brick bond will look right (too uniform).

Looks like broken bond is the way to go, would you guys agree?

Is there a minimum recommended lap/bond?

I was thinking of using the offcut at the end of each row to start the next wherever possible, to minimise wasteage.

Just one other question, do any of you know a stockist of the Ultracolour Chocolate Grout in the Manchester or surrounding area. Tile Giant in Rochdale need 2 weeks notice.

Or can anyone recommend an alternative, dark brown, flexible grout?

Many Thanks

Broken looks good on them,i done a herringbone in them in a clients bathroom the done a brick on the 45 in toilet, looked good. The herringbone was framed too, looked class. The minimum lap i'd go would be around a quarter or so.
Good luck with the grout,i'm sure someone on her will get you it before 2 weeks!

this is a herringbone one that I did at home, but also did a broken bond in the kitchen, not

done a pic of that one for some reason

Are the tiles all the same length.
If so using them in straight lines will be difficult to achieve with a thin tile and IMO will not look very interesting.
I suspect they will look like the same sized tile just stepped in joint.
Now as Doug has done ( and I wish he would move that wash boy) the Herringbone design on the 45degree is a totally aesthetic look. Traditional, no straight lines and very interesting!
Have a look at the other design options and lay some out for the customer to see the effect.

Timeless John.

Yes, they are all 600x150.

I will try and give the customer a few options.

With regard to the Ultracolour grout, I got it today (Chocolate 144) from Tilemart in Bolton. Cost £12 for a 5kg bag.

Thanks for all the replies

lol John, I could take another photie, it's in my hallway at home, done last xmas eve, only prob being that I made a big toybox for my lads that now covers quite a big area:lol:

hillheads entry for JOTM of the herringbone was awesome! If he puts the pic up again print it and show the customer i'm sure the dilemma will be solved!!

Nice mapei jasmin grout going in there.Customer wanted that, now they want me to change it to brown:yikes: a job for fuga fresca??????????

That also looks spot on Doug

Was that a lighter grout, or is it just because you have mopped it?

I think I did use a lighter shade, again a mix, this time it could've been Ultra Limestone with Ultra Chocolate:thumbsup:
