As it's Mapei it'll be quality stuff but I bet I'd need a mortgage to buy a 20kg bag

I believe that to make mosaic,
The 5 kg bag is ok.
you always have fresh material.
and lay mosaic does not require large volumes of adhesive.

I had to use keralastic though.
The manufacture specified a 2 part PU adhesive due to cement-sensitive mesh.
Otherwise I would have used something sensible like this!

This wasn't around at the time for you tho, interesting the resin and additives, still cement based and a S1 but I've one coming up with gem mosaics mesh backed might be an option. Thought there might have been an option for bigger bag tho

I miss the old BAL mosaicfix.
It was perfect and they ruined it.
1) made it grey and icky by adding unneccessary "fibres" (because Ardex said they had to) and
2) made it Topps exclusive.

no matter what I do to prevent it, I always get lots of air bubbles when grouting mosaics. I've tried different consistencies, different grouts, different methods of applying, slow hand mixing, fast mechanical mixing...etc I still always seem to get these air pockets.
If this product guaruntees no air pockets I'm in.

Afternoon, at Mapei we formulate our product in this way – once in a thin bed and on a porous background or porous tile the material will grab enough to allow grouting with a Mapei grout.
