Have a customer who has asked me to lay stone tiles in her kitchen area? She has not bought them yet but was wondering if it was safe against food staining/colourants and/or kitchen cleaning products like ciff or cilit bang. She was talking about expensive limestone/travetine or marble

shw was looking at the www.floorsofstone.com website and mentioned the following:

Moca creme limestone - honed with a square edge
Light tumbled travetine - honed and filled with a square edge
Noce tumbled travetine - unfilled and tumbled
Botticino tumbled marble - tumble surface and edge

She said they would come with a recommended impregnator on their website called Stain-proof - 15 year warranty?

There are specific Cleaners for these types of tiles for example HG, LTP etc. I always used to say to people, if they want to use common household cleaners to test in a small area that is not visable (just incase!)

I dont know what the other guys will say on here but, limestone is a very pourous tile and will get very dirty especially in a high traffic area such as a kitchen. Just make sure that it is good quality stuff and it is properly sealed.

Again, depends upon type.....i have just fitted some limestone as dense as slate..

yes

Just wanted to check with you guys. many heads is beter than one

Could she use stuff like bleach

Stone is OK if the customer is prepared to listen and put the time into cleaning it properly with the right cleaners, so you need to explain this to them and if the think its going to be hard work for them to do then no its the wrong material for them.
