Thanks for answering your question for me lol

I'm not interested in making the forum anything like facebook. If people want Facebook they have it.

We have the forum here though and it's the forum.

I'm not trying to dig you out mate, I've got way more respect for you than that, I just want to be able to use this forum again like I used to, simple quick and easy, no messing. That's all I'm trying to get at.
I'm struggling to see how you can't quickly post a thread and add photos like you do on Facebook I've just tested it, it's the same amount of clicks lol

I'm listening mate. I'll take a look in the week. 🙂

Did you fill in the survey a couple of weeks ago? Got a couple of hundred responses and nearly all said it's mint. New and old members.

Nobody else mentioned the 14 options to ask if grout is patchy mind lol

Who knows better than me, knows the difficulties of the forum? 🙁
but I not resign myself.
My big problems are continuous changes.
Everything here, but a real bergamasco, never gives up. 😉.
Ps dan, the stranger who made the forum. Is an italian ?, 🙂

I have to agree with Bri that there is a lot going on but I tend to just look at "New Posts" and when that gets up to the hundreds just mark all forums read.
I'll never have to concern myself about entering JOTM.

And this is pretty much what I'm getting at, all this fancy stuff that I'm sure is very useful but, all people want to know is what's new, can I contribute, if not I'll just mark the forums read and carry on.

That's not actually what most people do. I have the stats to show it. Most people here are new and are able to post new threads just fine.

They won't see the new posts page, or have hundreds stacking up, they're new.

I've said about 10 times the same thing that it's too complicated but dan gets all defensive about it. Loads of people saying the same thing, listen to the members !

I'm only giving my opinion:sunglasses:

I had a Nokia 3310 once long time ago, best phone I ever had! Now I have an iPhone 7 and even tho I don't know or use all the features, would I go back to the Nokia? No, people don't like change, never have, but without it we would still be living in caves! Just my opinion 🙂

I take all feedback on board and listen all the time but i don't think it's always wise to change the whole forum for a couple of people.

I become burried in statistics instead and watch traffic patterns and see what new members do. Because if we make it easy for them to find the right pages then we're doing well.

And if you look, it works, even newbies upload photos to threads just fine. Happens every day.

Dan - I like it!
So just you tell them the facts and call them naughty words - a change is as good as a rest - and I never complain.
Used properly this forum can add a significant amount of work and exceptional contacts to our businesses and for that I'am grateful. It gave me the opportunity to work in the south when I needed to be down there and to this day it allows the choice of work to be varied and interesting.
If members focus on just a few hiccups and failed photos to vent their frustrations then where would we be without the Tilers Forum - my wife originally thought I was spending my time on **** sites, but was relieved and annoyed that I was ignoring her for work. But now she just rolls her eyes and says ' stop annoying people' - me!

Stunner. Haha..

Made me laugh that.

Look, i listen to the guys. I sit up with the Mrs saying 'wonder if this would get them more business in' moreso than 'wonder if this would make it like Facebook / make me rich / make more people visit and ask the same questions'.

So I'm listening.

I just need actual suggestions to try rather than dissing it 'youd be better as a Facebook' kinda thing.

I quite like the way it works. But I can see it from Bri and Andy's point.

There are people that are going to love the 1000001 features available, but others will see it as being over-complicated for what they want to use the forum for.

What would be the chance that an option is given to switch between the full site with all the bells and whistles and a "Lite" version that has many of the unnecessary features [to them] stripped back so that it gives them a forum that they can use comfortably. Keeping only the important stuff like full access to all the threads, JOTM, cut the like buttons back etc.... Like it was a year n'a bit ago when I joined. Or even what if the features can be listed in everyones profile and they can individually pick and choose what they want to see?

Far from a small job to put in and all dependant on whether the forum software can handle it..... @Dan ?

Honestly the site is way to complicated.bring it back to basics.make it simple to use with less categories and subcategories categories etc

Wow I never read any of this.

This is food for thought for the new JOTM system.
