my first car was a 1955 morris traveller

I was 15 and paid £12.50 for it, replaced the wheel bearing and got it moted, sold it on at a profit

so I was dealing in cars before I had left school and before I could hold a driving licence

The Gordini I think and it had to be white but insurance was 5 times the price of the car, I have a figure of £3,500 for the insurance quote

Gordini but close  My mate had one but couldnt afford the insurance, kind of brings us full circle!

im showing my age scott

and these days Im feeling old

im sure the world used to be a far simpler place to be in

850cc mini was my first car, I see they've come a long way since then:hurray:
same here too doug, i had wide wheels and lots of fogs on the front, was a real babe magnet! (so i thought  ) then i traded it in for a viva with a fur dashboard!

Mine was a hb Viva, saw one in an vintage car show a few years ago, thats brings it home lol

datsun 120y was my first car complete with spot lights that if turn on drained the battery in three seconds, and of course furry dice hanging from the mirrior.

it was a complete rust bucket so traded it in for a hillman avenger with boy racer wide wheels............oh the good old days

hey nice first car , they are nippy little motors , insureance is a killer , my wifes 14 years younger than me and the first car i tryed to put her on was a bmw 1.8 think that was over a grand its mad ,they only wanted about £250 just for me , cant wait till my boys start driveing ,prob be as much as a house by then :yikes:

14 years younger !! that's quite a trade-in you got there

The first car my first husband and I owned together was a Morris traveller, coach painted by ourselves and later sold to a collector... my first car all of my own was a Toyota Starlet, and I loved it to bits... engine was perfect throughout, started in all weathers, but the bodywork disintegrated over the years , looked like a knitted jumper at the end...

What you think.. My oldest son's first car..

Just been with him today to sort it out and he gets it next week.

Pics are auto trader but it is from a local garage..

Autotrader - RENAULT Clio 1.2 16v Extreme 4

Very nice for a first car, I'd have been proud. 🙂

Mine was a Mk2 Golf, C reg I think it was. Wasn't worth a penny but I loved it to bits. You always remember your first car and the clio's a nice one to have.

Love the V6 one but apparently it handles rubbish as the steering has been compromised due to the widening of the wheelbase. Wouldn't kick it out of bed though and all that.

My firsy car was a 1980 Fiesta, lol before moving onto a Talbot Sunbeam TI (wow, pure sex on wheels:drool5🙂lol.
My lad is still 18 and is on his 5th car already :yikes:
There was a clio in there second i think, then Peugeot 306's took over.. he also put a Toyota Corolla on it's roof and mangled it(fool).
His first insurance was over £3000! down to £2200 now.
He has 2 306's now and my other lad has just bought one too(16 coming 17):incazzato:

Haha, brings back memories, had a mate who lived with me when I was in my early 20's and he had 3 205's. He loved them. Had another mate who had a 205 track car with an MI16 engine in it out of the 306's, rapid that was.

Though I have to say having 5 cars and not hitting 19 beats my own record and I've had quite a few cars for being under 30! haha

p.s. I rolled a saxo, also french, never wanted to touch a french car since. Though had a corolla (t-sport) and used to jump bridges in it (silly, but young at the time) and couldn't imagine managing to roll one of those, let alone one with a smaller engine. He wants to switch back to japanese and change his driving style me thinks lol

Pete..

Just added debs to the policy and it brought it down to 900 quid..:yikes: deffo sexist but who cares.

weve got a 205 sport with a private plate on it, the only thing that gives away its a sport is the small badge on each wing

I have great fun as it looks like a t reg standard motor , it goes like a rocket and every now and then I boot it and wipe the floor with a boy racer:lol:

I had a 1985 B-reg VW Polo coupe in white. £400 to buy, £699 to insure, and then I spent £250 on a stereo and speakers too

my insurance this year on an 08 corsa is just less than the 2nd years insurance on the Polo back in 1998.

My 1st was a Vauxhall Victor FB, bench seat in front and 3 speed column gear change, bought it in '75 for £50, insurance £70 TPF&T. sold it in 78 for £150. Reg was ETC141C so it was called "and so on", get it, etc. Two weeks ago saw an identicle one at classic car show which was immaculate and only had 44k on it. one owner from new.

I had a few of those FBs through my hands, lovely motors, I had a lovely twotone vx4/90 which went rather well

FBs had several model changes, I had a FBa which didnt have the chrome indicator flash on the wing, the indicators were below the headlight, it was rare then as only a few thousand were made early in production

I had a Capri 1.6. All Capris had a slidey back end which I discovered myself when I lost it, put it in a field and rolled it twice with Boney M on the cassette ( don't know why cos I hated them). I haven't been able to listen to 'Ra Ra bleedin' Rasputin' since.

:lol::lol::lol:

My first car was a Ford Orion Ghia 1.6i Ghia, It was given to me by a lass from the gym who won a new car in a competition, but I couldnt afford the insurance so I gave it away, I couldnt afford anything else for 12 months after passing my test but eventually got a brand new fiat punto.
