Hi there, would anyone advise me on how big should be my expansion gap if I use large tiles (415x315 with 8mm depth),

also, corners are never even, so If I leave 10mm gap I wont have similar corner gap,

so should I keep measuring and cut them with different sizes to achieve a straight line up to cilling?

Thanks!

You should centre the wall to give yourself the largest possible cut up each side, you can follow the contour of the edge with each cut. Leave approx 2-3mm gap then Silicon after grouting but don't grout this gap.

Can't fault you Pete, spot on advice.

Hi there

As you know I have 4mm spacers, so wouldn't my corners look unprofessional if I have only 2-3mm gap?

Shouldn't I stick to exactly same 4mm gap?

Of course Im gonna use Silicon.

Regards

I didn't know that because you never said! However the joint size doesn't matter as they will be grouted and the corners should be siliconed so you won't see them

I've decided to use mapei colour silicon so I really want expose this gap to make a nice level finish.

Grout between tiles, but not for corners.

I use 4mm spacers, and I keep 4mm gap in corners too.

Come again??

Yes, because I don't get : "the joint size doesn't matter" advice.

If you use a tick tile, like in my case, I don't think that the joint doesn't matter. Thick and large size tiles plus bigger joints.

All I wanted to know now is if I use 4mm spacers between tiles should I have 4mm gaps in corners too.

I think yes, but Would be great to hear it from you guys.

Regards

I think 2-3mm (the norm) would be fine, as you will be siliconing over the corner joint anyway, and the Silicon joint is likely to be 5-6mm anyway.
