Hello all!
I've recently knocked through my kitchen and diner.. It's been a hell of a job after a flood from the bathroom upstairs before we bought it.
New ceiling, total rewire, ducting for island hood and all walls replastered.
We're finally ready for mist coat etc. When thats done I'm looking to lay polished porcelain 600x600's from tilehq (niro's in white, already purchased).
-on that note 3mm gap minimum is stated on the niro granite boxes .. which i'm going with as we want minimal grout if poss.
The floor is a mix of concrete from where the old wall was and a gas pipe we had to move, and very old plastic tiles on bitumen.
I've lifted a couple of tiles and done a close up. The bitumen looks like only 1-2mm thick but what's the best plan here please? The far end of the room (the diner previously) has a thicker coat of bitumen (pic on right of the two below).
I've seen some old posts but wondered if there is any up to date soloution. Apologies if I've missed something in the forum about same.
It's been suggested to me to use "norcros prime bond sbr" - never used anything like this before but bought a litre while I was in a tile shop in Brum.
I've got keraquick from TileHQ in grey and ultracolour plus in white.
As soon as we're painted up (the left wall in the main room shot has only just been plastered this morning so I'll leave mist coat a while yet) I would love to tile this floor.. just dont want a horry storry in 18 months like I've seen elsewhere of tiles coming back up.
