Went to my local Topps Tiles to get some addy for tomorrows job...and on the counter was a litre of HG Super Remover. I have used this before for cleaning floors, and its around £12 per litre. Asked the guy serving how long have you stocked HG products, he said we don't it came from there sister company Tile clearance warehouse and we are selling them off cheap...How much i said £1 a litre :yikes: How many have you got i said...12 litres so i bought the lot for £12..:hurray:

Nice one, I've just been to my local Topps. No bargains there unfortunatly:incazzato:

I was at one of my tile distributors two years ago and they had 5 gallon buckets of tanking listed for sale for $54/per bucket (regular price $255 per bucket).

I asked the guy at the counter what the story was and he said the corporate office sent out a memo to sell all stock of the 5 gallon units because the manufacturer was starting to package the same product in 3.5 gallon buckets, and they didn't want to maintain stock of two sizes.

I said let me call a buddy and see if we can buy a few buckets for his job. The guy behind the counter said "If you buy the entire pallet (26 buckets), I'll drop the price to $35/bucket."

So, we bought the lot, used some of them on our jobs and "sold them" into the job at market price, then sold the rest on Craigslist.

We actually came out ahead and for once I got a deal on something.

Phil, with all the work you've done in the US, you probably ran across DalTile for materials and tile? The brand of tanking I was referring to was Custom Building Products RedGard. Did you ever use that here?

Talking of bargains!!

Was doing a bathroom during the was just about to finnish up and go home when i guy came to the door and asked would i be interested in buying a tile cutter! i asked what it was, and he said it was a sigma 3b!

He was an ex kitchen fitter but due to his age and an accident he could no longer work.

So off we went up to his garage and he pulled out a nearly new sigma 3b i near broke his arm of for it for £80  he also gave me the owners manual with it.
