Best Tile Adhesive for Walls - 2016 Tile Adhesives Poll

I know people have already said toppfix is made by palace but I believe topps grouts are ultra

Tilemaster.
Ive been trying out different adhesives for the last 30 years and not afraid to change !! For a small business fixing stone I get through a fair few pallets per month and with the overhead of employees I need to make a reasonable margin but also give clients a good adhesive at reasonable price .i get all this and good tech back up from Tilemaster and am very happy .i only use setaflex white and rapid 30 latex plus primers /anhyfix and delta boards

Ive used a lot of Topps Tiles own brand..also Bal ...Mapei ..and recon That grout 3000 is one of the best out there..they also do matching Silicon to go with the colours of grouts..
Tilemaster Setaflex adhesive is also up there with them for quality and consistency too.

I am baffled ...
I have a thought that I blend in for days head, all these little brands around the world, which future may have ?.
it seems very similar to the stories of the pubs, open a new pub, take it to a turnover mediocre and resell it.
frankly, all of these brands create my confusion, I strongly hope that the big fish eat the small one. I think 4/5 brands are enough, I'm tired of reading data sheets whenever I use grouting and adhesives.
the price war, creates all this chaos of products, small brands entering the market with prices below as to attract clients, but all this as it can last? A few months, then the price differences are approaching.

TileMaster for me, occasionally Weber and even less frequently Ultra. That's not to say I've anything against Weber and Ultra, I actually really rate them it's just imo TileMaster is the best blend of excellent product, value and ease of use.

As of writing the order of the top 5 is Mapei, Tilemaster, Weber, BAL, Ultra.

Well done to all companies with votes so far but super well done to those 5.

Keep the votes coming people.

I will need to remove some votes by the companies themselves near the end of the poll, but only a couple appear to have voted so far without me digging into them a bit more. Which I will do to keep it fair.

I think I voted for Rocotex just so I can see the results. Else even as admin I can't lol. Bit of a flaw maybe. But I thought I'd declare that. Thought it wouldn't skew the results of the top bunch just in case it ends up a close one.

So far it seems a really legit poll. Not many firms voting for themselves (and I assume some doing it do see the results like myself, else you simply can't see the results, so I won't remove them until near the end of the poll closure), and I can't spot any obvious cheating. Such as members registering then instantly voting then never logging on again. All votes so far seem to be from members who were on the forum well before we created the poll, and some registered before the 2015 poll but never voted on that one, which shows they just didn't have a preference then but do now.

I'll post some facts about the stats and changes over the years and the changes members have made over the years in an article at some point in a few months time. Interesting to see some have voted for their brand for a decade. Others have changed annually. Others changed, then changed back quickly. Nice to see that people do have a preference but will try others etc etc.

It's not necessarily to do with preference but availability . From what I've read about tilemaster on this forum if it was available locally I would probably give that a whirl .

Tilemaster!
Top quality products!!
Never had any problems.. Reasonably priced, family business, so helpful and friendly.
Looking at the last couple of years polls they've quickly come from nowhere to 2nd place so far. Beating the likes of BAL by miles who where the market leaders in the UK for a very very long time.

Well done to them. Fair to say whatever they're doing its working.

Mapei and Weber are awesome also it seems according to the guys that use it all.

Hoping to see some isomat getting used more now they're on our forum as sponsors. Maybe we need to get them send out some more samples and things?

Got to support each other where we can eh?! @ISOMAT UK

Top man Mark is too. Those that have had the privilege to deal with him and TM will vouch for that.

You ask where they have come from @Dan IMHO they've been bubbling in the background for a good few years now. We first came to the attention of TM from this very forum, when tilers talk about products being consistently spot of for the job you have to (as a retailer) take notice surely.

That's bloody lovely to hear Lee thank you pal. I really really do love hearing that we've helped out. Whether retailer or tiler. And I really like hearing that people listen to these moaning bar stewards. Because be that they are. They are the ones with the incoming revenue into the whole industry. If a tiler is trusted by their customer and they say black is white, the customer is going to agree and the world turns inside out.

So to see a firm who profits from tilers (and there's no shame in profit that wasn't meant as a derogatory term) it is really nice to hear they're listening to the guys that make their business tick.

I also profit from those guys. And I've noted we have some UFH issues going on. And am working behind the scenes to make sure the likes of @JulianSidney and @Andystiletiling and @Uheat - Jake connect more.

That's my job and I'm not going to be able to stay online for the tilemasters and tile towns to find each other if I'm not doing it right.

God that sounded sick when I read it back. And not in the teens terms of sick which apparently means good. I actually felt a bit sick lol

This new phone I've got hasn't got used to my typing style it keeps changing words. I was apple and now android. Is there an app for this? Ha

Getting a bit silly with the fake and / or company rep votes now.

Before we close the thread in a couple of weeks I'll remove all the company rep votes, and the votes from people who have registered to the forum after the date we started the poll.

We seem to have had an influx of people registering just to vote.

I'll also call out the firms who appear to have had this influx the most too. Have their own 'most probable needy vote counts' list or something. 🙂

Clearly if you work for a company that either manufactures or supplies just one brand, your vote is useless and probably (perhaps not always) money-orientated.

And clearly if you've never visited the forum before, your first ever visit to the forum was on this poll page, you registered on this poll page, signed in on it, instantly voted, then logged off and never logged on again, we can be pretty sure that's a fake vote. We can all do that. We just don't. It looks pathetic and even the most forum-challenged members we have can see right through it.

Enough now please. You know who you are.

(WHILE I HAVE YOU PLEASE NOTICE THE JOB OF THE MONTH COMP IS BACK!!! - VIEW INFORMATION HERE)

On with the original post...

I've nearly lost interest in this now. Got much better things to be doing with my time than messing around with fake votes.

I've reset the poll. I started to go through all the false votes and remove them. But there were quite a few and it ended up messing up the poll.

So I've now added some restrictions so that people who try to register to the forum just to vote, don't get to vote.

If you wouldn't mind, please vote again. I'll keep an eye on the poll too and make sure it's true.

I have to say that a dozen accounts were registered in a day and used to vote for TileMaster, and it stopped once they were a few votes ahead of Mapei. Not cool.

I've also stopped member support accounts and sponsors from voting. As clearly they'd vote for the adhesive they sell. So it isn't a choice they have so didn't choose to use that brand like a tiler does.

Good luck to all in the poll.
