Time's Ran Out

What's in a name?
Mr Tiler but he isn't!
His posts just get more laughable (I'am being kind) as they increase in number
When I replied to a post on - are we giving too much info - this member is the classic example of YES !
I fear for the industry with characters like this out there .

I was never allowed to do a job without the experience of being able to do it to a professional standard. If you are going to charge for a service at least have the decency to be able to know how to do the job!
 
TJ, in the short space of time I have been back I've been surprised/shocked at some of his replies/answers.
I wasn't sure if I was missing something but my (future) wife knows more about tiling than this guy seems to know.
He may just be a bit green & we maybe need to give him the benefit of the doubt but..................
 
If its not a wind up he has quite a long hill to climb then in that case he is trying to better his life I wish him well

Is it possible for him to change his handle to Mr Novice Tiler so he doesn't completely ruin this forum with his inexperience!
 
Well I got completely slaged off by the do good brigade for giving a sarcastic answer to a ridicules question. I also had my posts edited for bad language when I said I have shxx em but here we are talking shix about cheese and fcukbook in the open forum and not a thing is said. This forum is a joke at the moment and it is not that funny.

Modding is modding , where are the rest of them , ? .. Left the ship ?
 
Before your thread I highlighted my concerns here and this last month has been poor.
We are told he's real and we are told to help but some of his posts to questions are rediculous.
Some members are encouraging him and today's posts in reply are ****e!
Its this type of posting that makes me wonder if there isn't a better forum out there?

I see a sense of humour has been lost tonight. You're right Deano this forum has become hard work over the last few weeks, and I for one have stopped enjoying it as much as I used to, the main reason being that I/we (moderators) have been having to continually edit and report bad language in the open forums from long standing members. I can assure you I don't do the moderating as some sort of power trip, it's quite simply just to give something back for the work and knowledge I've gained from this forum. This isn't directed solely at you by the way, it's just a general point I'm making.
 
Getting back to Mr Tiler, i have read his last post about sell by dates on tiles.

Read through his grammar & spelling, he has got very good at typing all of a sudden, i dont know if we are getting taken for a ride or he is a genuine guy, he has enthusiasm, i will give him that.

Whats getting to me is his replies to some posts on here giving out advice & i think thats whats bugging a lot of the members.

I wouldnt go on the "Airplane Forum" & tell a pilot how to land a Jumbo. :sofahide:
 
The best thing to do if anyone sees some bad advice from him, just correct it, that way he'll have learnt something and so will the op.

I agree , if you are here to learn from scratch , which is what this guy is , then stop giving advice about what he has no clue about... or do we spend time trawling his posts and constantly correcting him... Me i have better things to do :lol:


Bri.... You and Neale are good mods , just a shame such a full team does not help out more.. i know more than any that it is a tedious task to trawl every thread/post and edit out foul language...

I have added to some risky words to see if a mod picks up and 99% zilch removed... there is more to modding than posting to internet pals.. 🙂..

Anyway back to Mr Tiler 🙂..

I'll go off topic for one last post. Dave you probably don't realise this but, I actually find it quite awkward and almost disrespectful to you , editing your posts, given your history on the the forum and the fact that you have played a massive part in its success. Also the support you have given me since I became a mod, editing your posts is like giving my Dad a bollocking that's why I don't do it and if I do see any that need editing I have asked that you do it yourself.
 
Dave, maybe your long standing input, and 60,000 + post, and the fact your ex admin, (and we know what your like...lol) might mean the mods turn the odd blind eye to some of your post..? don't worry though, i'll do a bit of effing and jeffing, see what happens..:thumbsup:........JOKE BRI, CALM DOWN!!
 
Firstly the full team all do their part. It is a fact though that sometimes words get missed and also the mods and myself dont read every post.
Getting back to Ash aka Mr Tiler. 1 he is very real. 2, its not a wind up, 3 I have stated somewhere before that he may have some kind of learning disability.
I have also told him that his Mr Tiler name isnt the best for him but he wanted to keep it.
If he changed his name to Ash Tiling etc would this make a difference to the posts he makes ???? No not one bit and it would actually make it look like he was a professional.
There are people in life who you try to help and steer on course by advising, which is what i tried to do, there are also people like Ash who want that help but will still blunder off and try to take short cuts...ie the B&Q cutter and the rest of his tools which are only fit for a job or 2.
He is not a wind up and he genuinely wants to tile. That said I doubt very much he will ever make it further than doing the odd splashback.

Never looked at it that way.... i shall be an upstanding member ... i promise 🙂..ish... :lol:


And just to say i wasn't i n any way having a dig at any member of staff... just when a forum starts to lose activity from a mod , it creates more for the others... if they cannot give the time anymore then it would be sense to allow someone who can to keep it running smooooooooth... but hey not for me to be involved in anymore... now back to the sunshine.. 🙂
