Worst adhesive ever.

Just started and finished kitchen splaahback today.
Customer supplied all materials from B and Q and the adhesive was UNIBOND tile on wall adhesive.
The stuff was awful was like cheese spread.
Only in the game six months so would be handy to know what other adhesives and grouts to steer clear off.

Letting the customer supply the tiles is usually OK, but NEVER EVER let them supply adhesive and grout, I cant begin to tell you about some of the s**t i've been expected to use in the past. I reckon the old "tile-n-grout" takes some beating LOL.

yeah i tried that unibond quite a few years back.
as it was late and B&Q was the only place open

its was so bad i took it back to b&q and got my money back.

Least you know never to use it again and anything else unibond its all rubbish

Had a professional builder buy B&Q tile& grout gear a few weeks back. I laughed and left.

I only use Bal and sometimes Palace,never ever anything from a DIY'er

Because BAL is more expensive than other adhesive do you guys ever get customers complaining about the price for materials or do they usually accept it once you've explained its the dogs bollox?

Always use bal if i can but there is the odd occasion that i have to use other products but only use one's i know i can trust...........dave..

WICKES,WICKES,WICKES,Only kiddin had a customer once who bought Wickes waterproof stuff and 3 tiles fell off the wall it was going off like no ones business literally five minutes and it had skinned over i could only put about 4 - 6 tiles on at a time now i get the customer to take adhesive back if its not something that i reccomend if they wont i state that i dont guarantee anything not reccomended by myself.
is this just me or do you guys do something similar?

I tell the customer when I am doing the estimate that adhesive and grout is included in the price. If they've already bought their own I tell them to take it back.

If they don't agree I price it the same and just use my own anyway. Them buying it is more expensive for them
