Hi Guys,

I am planning to renovate my kitchen and am trying to understand when the tile splashback should be installed.

I was under the impression that the kitchen should go in, units, worktop etc, and the splashback should be installed as the last task.

However, I am now being told that the tiling should be done first and then the cabinets etc installed afterwards.

This to me sounds back to front. However, I'm not a tiler so I don't know who is right.

Can anybody advise on when it should be done?

TIA:yes:

Your original thoughts are correct.
Although you may want to leave off any cornice that may be fitted.

are you altering your electrics at all, if you are and have chosen what tiles you are havin, get your finished worktop hieght and set your sockets so they finish on the diagonal tile line half and half youll find it so much easier for tiling
