Hi

A previous customer called me with a problem he has with his concrete balcony of his 6 floor flat (ex council). Water doesnt drain away down the drain thats in one corner, as its open to elements. I said i would look into the best option and get back to him. From memory the balcony is narrow and long, running the length of the living room.
Any ideas? Can it be as simple as tiling it giving it a slope or is it more complicated, with screeds etc.?

cheers for any advice

Is the drain on the outer edge of the balcony, which should have a fall, away from the building and into the drain.

lol, the water just sits there, although you wouldve thought it'd been built with a slope! He moved into the flat last year. Although he's a fussy customer so its probably a little puddle!
I'll have to go and have a look as I usually find its not quite as the customer says.

Somebody mention puddle,''no puddle to small' thats my motto ,usually are quite big the time I have finished though anyway

But if ex council flat in block, think this problem would be block managements, which may still be the local council as structural, give them a ring and let them take a look

If as you think just a slight puddle here and there, you could just tile as said or as one of my customers has done ,laid decking, raised slightly ,with channeled battens to support it,do not raise to much mind,as customer may fall over resulting low balcony rail

Suggesting he speaks to block management is a good idea, cheers, I cant do the job for a couple of weeks anyway. He'd also had decking down so only just noticed the water!
