Rigid mosaic backers?

Is there such a thing as rigid mosaic backers? i've just finished a job with 10mm thick 600/300 wall tiles with a 4mm thick mosaic border, got the job finished no problem, border flush with tiles but i couldn't help thinking it would have been much easier if there was such a thing as a rigid mosaic backer

Here's a tip, the day before you stick em up do this....
Cut into what you need, ie 3 high etc.
Lay them on a flat surface, paste the back of them with adhesive.
Let set and that evening or next day etc you have mosaics with a flat paste of adhesive giving them great strength.

There are rigid mosaic backers which are really good but I've only seen them at about 2.mm thick.

I normally use the 2mm honey comb plastic type backers which do help and use a wooden template to get the addy to the right thickness but always find this quite time consuming and messy, if i had thought about it 4mm backer would have probably been the best way to do it. cut the backer to the right size, fix the mosaic to it, leave to dry then stick the backer in later is the method i assume? the method i normally use works fine but if i can find a better quicker method then all the better!

Honeycomb backers for me too, makes them much more rigid.
