I thought I would post a couple of pictures of an old limestone floor brought back to life the stone was very dirty and the grout badly discoloured the tiles had been down 15 years

Looks much better gary.........thanks for the pics..

what did you clean it with and can you tell the members your process to do this job please..

I taped plastic protection all around the walls, architrave and skirtings up to 1m high using low tack masking tape as i used an floor buffing machine , then i used a degreasing cleaner, i wont mention brand names as most companies sell a generic degreasing cleaner ,this was mopped on to the floor and then i used a white 15inch white scouring pad on the buffing machine and then hoovered off the excess dirty water with a wet and dry hoover , the floor was allowed to dry out thoroughly and then the joints were lightly sanded with 120 grit sand paper which brought the grout up to its original colour ,the next step is to reapply new impregnating sealer, i chose Fila mp90 for this (other brands are available ) and sealed all the tiles and joints, this was repeated 3 times and the floor was finished using a clear paste wax which was buffed with a soft brush on the buffing machine
hope this helps
Gary

Very interesting, another string to your bow ! Guess a whole new market available to you now

I have a floor polisher/buffing machine but never got around to using it. Just waiting for a suitable job. I must get some pads for it too.

Your right Gary m8 the stone is called Leonara and it was 15/16 years ago

Ive got a 15" one that folds in half (ye ye) ...........brilliant as its not standard size it gets closer into corners and stuff

There is a lot of good stone out there from this period that would should be cleaned in the last 5 years. The stone from back then will last the test as the veins from the quarries were good and fresh, wish i could say the same now a lot of the travertines today are not the best quallity unfortunately...................
