I think it would be a good idea to run JOTM for new tilers only sometime in the future. The standard of work so far has been outstanding and maybe putting people off posting there jobs. What do you think, would it work?

Good idea enduro.rename it newcomer job of the month or something like that.with so many members there has to be loads with good work on even if its early career work.im sure prizes could be sorted.

I like the Idea!
I don't think that a prize is necessary - its being the winner (IMHO) that counts.
Prehaps 4 times a year each over a 3 month period - just thinking out loud!

Has anyone been named in mag yet? A newbie should be 1 year and under but hard to police.get fred on the job.lol

Good idea... But policing it would be difficult.
If there was a JOTM for part time tilers and window cleaners, Dean would be a dead cert!

anything that encourages the members regardless of ability to post pictures of there work is a great idea.
we all love and are proud of what we do, sharing this in the forums is what its all about :hurray:

I think it would be a great idea. It could be called rookie of the month or such like and policing would not be an issue as it should only be winnable just once.

I think it's a very good idea. I see the pics in JOTM and the workmanship can be intimidating even for a 'newish' tiler let alone for a newbie.
As TJ says, maybe only a few times a year and for any job they have done in their first year. Easy to police if they are regular posters but I don't think it will be necessary on a friendly forum like this.

Any new tiler like to comment, how would you feel about doing this. Could also be good for some constructive advice, and we will not to slag jobs off. Instead of a prize perhaps a certificate could be awarded to put into your portfolio to show customers. What do the mods think? would it work.

I like the idea, I'm new and have only completed small jobs for mates so far.
I would love to post some photos and enter once I have a few more jobs done.

Great thread this lads and ladies.anything to pick up interest from newbies is a plus.i know when i started something like this would have been great.i know how it feels to win now and such a boost it would be to a starter would be unreal.confidence alone.

How do we tell who are new comers and who are not...their word..?
This is the point of having the comp in the arms as it is for all members new comers or not..as long as they have access to the arms..
So by starting one for newcomers, then how can we tell who is who.....won't work IMHO..

I thought similar when it first came on, you could have a tiler with 10 years experience and one just completed a tiling course, both new to the forum but with a vast difference in experience.
