Hello from someone looking for a new career

I found this site and finding it full of invaluable advice and knowledge.
I'm presently a house dad and a part time paramedic. I'm looking at changing careers as I need flexible hours due to child care, and once my youngest starts school full time next year I'm planning on doing the 6 week course at Alpine, and start looking for self employed work.
I hope this is a realistic idea? I'm sure you'll have views and advice, which I need as much as I can get!
