hi had to fix some tiles today from tile store and they were a glazed porcelian which were really rough they were black with a glitter like affect. a nightmare to cut and even worse to grout spent 3 hours cleaning the floor after grouting and i cant get all the haze off anyone one got any good tips to get it off thanks

are you sure they were porcelain and not quartz/composite tiles with transit wax on them?

hi no a glazed porcelain but the glaze felt like sandpaper when you rubbed your hand across them i asked tile store if they needed sealing and they told me no.i grouted with silver grey grout so and gave the floor numerous washes with clean water as i knew this was gonna be a nightmare but i had no choice and had to do it

same as these?

yes it looks like them but on the box it says they are porcelian the shop told me they didn t need sealing?

oddly enough I'm doing a bathroom floor early next week with them, I've cleaned and sealed them.

i could cut some on my rubi ts60 but had to give them numorous scores and only when the cut was a fair size most cuts on the wet saw

Wouldn't have thought you could cut quartz with a ts60 and gritty feel to them? Quartz is normally polished

no just the glaze they are porcelain with a textured black rough glaze which just looks like those quartz tiles

These cant be a quartz if you managed to cut them with 60.
I tried cutting quartz years ago with a 60 & it wouldnt look at them. I only use my slider to mark a line for the wet cutter.

I'll bet they're a quartz composite resin tile, did they smell strange when you put them through the wet cutter?

But they would be the same all the way through Doug he says the black is just on the top.

Anyway a grout haze remover

Anti slip porcelain , been around ages in varying colours and designs.

Some times easier to score the back and break that way.

As for the residue, good quality grout haze remover.

Deffo not quartz 🙂

Huckin, do you have access to a TX cutter? I know the tiles you mean now, (got there in the end lol)

Hi, I've just been reading your convo about flecked tiles. I have just bought some of the Tile Giant Starlight black tiles (granite) and the guys in the shop were really helpful regarding sealing them but I'm concerned about transit wax. Do you know whether these tiles have transit wax on them? any help would be appreciated.
