Hi everyone,

I'm looking for help with setting out a floor. The floor to be tiled is 38m2. It is a hallway, dining room and kitchen, all being done in the same tile. My problem is that in the centre of the dining room, there is to be a rectangular feature. What i mean is that there are 2 no. 6 inch borders, which are the same length of the tiles which will be laid beside tiles in the centre of the room and then on either side of these 2 borders, there are 2 no. corner pieces which are not as long as the other borders and then there are 6 more long borders to be laid below the corner pieces. 3 on either side and then 2 more corner pieces and then between them 2 more long borders. So in the centre of this recrtangle there will be 6 large format tiles laid. so it will be 2, 2 and 2.

My problem is that when this feature is laid, it will offset the other tiles laid coming down from the hall and into the dining room. So, the grout lines will be diffent in 1 half of the room against the other. I know that you are not suppossed to put cuts in the centre of the room, but to have all the tiles in the room look the same i can see no other way apart from cutting the tiles that go around the edges of the border. If you can understand what i mean, any advise would be much appreciated.

Complicated one there shero,
cuts might do ok around the centre piece as long as they are neatly cut ie wet saw ! you could ask to break the run at the doorways etc??

I know exactly what you mean..as long as it looked nice then the inside does not have to match the outside pattern......sometimes the border is not dimensionally
the same as the field tile........check my photos in the gallery.i hvw sone of the same type in there....as for now..off to bed...see you in the morning.....
