Fake advertising is back

Same company that phoned me over a year ago using the same name called me again today. Save the number in your phone.

This is a fake advertising number. He calls himself Mike Jones. He chops & changes his mind which emergency service he works for whether its Police, Ambulance or Fire Bregade. They try to stoop you into advertising in an emergency service magazine which will be getting distributed. No magazine exists! He will forward your number to someone else who will call you from a withheld number. They say they will design & print your ad & send you out proofs. No proofs come just an invoice for £400 plus. When you question it & say you will not pay, they try & threaten you to pay as you have verbally agreed on the phone. Your call is recorded & they edit the call to make it sound like you agreed to it & then start sending FAKE debt letters. Do not pay them!!

They do not exist!!

Not had a call from one for a while, they are scum. Got caught out for about £110 a few years ago, now I'm just rude to them!

They're really clever, the geezer asked me about football and what team I supported, so the next time he phoned me he started chatting to me about Forest like he was my best mate. A sticky thread needs creating on all the forums to add names and phone numbers to, I think people are a bit wiser to them now though

I had one of these calls a couple of years ago I had no idea they were a known scam. Glad I kept saying no

He's the guy who was bothering me. Mentioned him in a previous post, he said he was from the Army and was doing a calendar and did I want to advertise on it, if I remember rightly it was for about £400.

He was very persistent over a period of a few weeks, but he got the message eventually.

Yeah he did, this was for a magazine that was for a children's charity. They'll use any old tale to pluck at your heart strings.

I had these beggers try it on a couple of years ago, I had sponsored a legit calander for a childerens charity and you always have a password. If you get a call from these scum bags just ask them for your password, they will hang up .:mad2:

Had a guy phone me last week apparantly from Wickes. Wanting to add me to the list of approved fixers on the web site and in-store supposedly.

Cheap @ £8 per week, and I get to pick and chose jobs.

Get them quite a bit. Often come from mobile numbers so fool you into answering.
