Drying time

Hi guys, got a floor being prepped by the customers own builder.

100mm kingspan
electric UFH element
SLC
60-70mm sand and cement screed.

The screed is being laid tomorrow, whats the procedure to follow. I was hoping to ring Tilemaster tomorrow and ask about their ultimate adhesive as I believe it can be used for green screeds etc. (obviously I know it can't be tiled straight away)

I'm only organising and scheduling as I have my tiler lined up to do the fixing, but I like to be informed!

Thanks, Luke.

SUBSTRATES:
Concrete/screed: New concrete must be allowed to dry for a
minimum of 7 days. Remove any laitance from the surface mechanically
and remove all dust ideally by vacuum. Make sure surface is free
of loose dirt and dust. Prime the surface with Primeplus diluted 3 parts
water to 1 part Primeplus. Very porous substrates will require more
than one coat. Priming will increase the set time of the adhesive
slightly.

Or am I reading this the wrong way`?

I have heard of tiles being laid after 7 days with a modified addy but I haven't done it personally.
Earliest I have went over a poured concrete screed is 3 weeks with a green screed.
60mm should be 80 days for drying..

It's a sand/cement screed....

Sorry, I took it as the term screed to mean sand cement. Are you saying the above is for concrete screed only?

There are no directions in the technical for green screed..

Bal green screed:

SURFACE PREPARATION
General
Ensure surfaces to be tiled are flat, clean, dry, sound and free
from contaminations.
SUITABLE SURFACES include:
Cement:sand screeds
Screed must be laid to required thickness to BS 8204.
Mix ratio: cement and fine aggregate sand (BS EN 13139)
1:3 up to 1:4.5 by weight.
Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.

Screed on top of 100mm kingspan....screed is'nt concrete, screed is sharp sand and cement.

Thats what I said isn't it? Its sand and cement on the top of the kingspan.

I'm feeling very dim tonight so speak slowly!

Can either of the these adhesive :

- Bal green screed
- Tile Master Ultimate

be used to reduce the time scale from 80 days??

I've used Bal green screed addy a week after a floor was laid but that was only 50mm deep....

1mm per day up to 40 mm 2 days per mm there over so 60 mm 80 days. Green screed type adhesives won't take account of drying or hydration shrinkage so might still crack or fail... Get any spec or guarantee in writing

You could use standard set adhesive providing you tile it within 24hours of it being laid allow 24 hours before you grout it
