Hi all,

Had my first tiling experience yesterday. Just a little WC with a few wall tiles behind sink and toilet. Was advised by sales staff (at stokes tiles) that a ready mix adhesive wasnt going to be very good for the size of tile i was using, so i bought a bag of adhesive. Mixed it up and looking back, think it was rather wet (bit like consistency of plaster). The house isnt lived in at the moment, so no heating on. Went back this morning and the adhesive is still a bit wet. Got some heaters on, will this help it go off? could it have been too cold last night? or would this just prolong the drying time? I'm panicking now, whether the tiles will be a good fix?! Help or reassurance wanted! Thanks in advance!

what make of addy was it , if you mixed it with the right quantity of water as it states on the bag then it should be fine , or was it a two pack addy
i use stokes tiles quite alot and find them to be very good

imo i would have use a white addy spf, what size tiles are they

oh and welcome to the forum

450mm x 316mm tiles. It was a bal adhesive. What would happen if i did mix it tooo runny?

looks like stokes tiles havr=e given you some good advice then

it was a bal adhesive? what one was it? it will say the name on bag

Just starting to panic because it just doest seem to be going off. I dont know if to just try and get the tiles off and salvage the wall or just hope it goes off eventually

Hello mate, ctf4 is brand new, I've not even seen it in the suppliers yet. Your tiles are too big for ready mixed. My advice would be, give the tiles until tomorrow and see if they have set fully, if not remove them and start again following the mixing instructions on the bag.

hi, yes turned heaters on, but didnt have them on last night due to safety issues with property not being occupied

ok i would try what bri suggests see if the heat changes it

i think it will set,im on an empty house atm and no heating using p9 which is taking long time to go off also having to use fans to heat rooms

CTF4 is a slow set adhesive and sets normally in 16hrs at 20dgs cel... so if it is cold , it will tale a lot longer..

I think i probably mixed it with too much water. My first time tiling and it just seemed really dry when mixed with correct amount. I will learn from experience though!
