Laser Levels - to buy or not to buy

Looking to get a laser level, one that sits on a tri-pod.

had a look at a few stabila ones LAX 50, LAX100 and LAX200

does any one use stabila, or anyother make?
are they worth the money?
any good places online to buy?

defo get yourself one they save a lot of time and hassle!
it makes setting out so much easier
rubi also do a great 1 if you fancy splshing out a bit

i dont wana go mad and pay hundreds, the LAX 50 is looking good at the mo, seems a few people use it, not sure if u can use it on floors tho... i keep reading up n looking at the pics but cant work out if you can or not...

anyone got the Stabila LAX 50?

I use a stabila, not sure which model. I would suggest you get one with ajustable tripod.

Tripods and levels are a pain in the butt IMO, I use a self leveling laser, bit more expensive but well worth it. I have a tripod that I used once and its gathering dust somewhere in the garage.

You could also buy a laser that inverts on its stand, mine will do walls and floors. It cost about £400 5 years ago but now you can get them a lot cheaper than that.

I've got the Dewalt DW087K. Comes in a nice box and looks built to last. I had a cheapy Bosch one to start with which failed on the same day I opened the box

Well worth their money when setting and and checking your work as you go. I have a couple that i use for different jobs . Trade tiler do a realy good one that sits on a pole. Never used the stabila ones. Their levels are some of the best in the world, so there laser must be pretty good??? If you have the cash spare you wont be disopointed in one.

had a geo-fennel self leveling cross line laser for a couple of years on a tripod and found it good to use but like diamond says the tripod is a pain.

got a bosch gll2-50 now and use it with the bt350 floor to wall telescopic pole, far better

tradetiler (forum sponsor) do the laserliner of similar type

laser level - UK

I've got their GP100 and use it with a telescopic pole. (not a tall bloke from Poland) :lol: I felt a tripod would get in the way. The pole is also handy for supporting heavy tiles at the top of a window reveal.

i can't comment on that laser level because i havent used one but i did speak to that company last year and they are really helpful.

i have got a pls180 and a dewalt dw087k and they are very good. both have something that the other doesnt and they seem to be the choice of most tradesman so you know they have a track record too! its difficult t pick up a quality laser level for under £100, ie the laser is dull or they tend to lose accuracy when they go around walls.

dave from tradetiler sent me the laserliner out to try last year and this was another excellent laser. the floor square is good value its price.

i agree with diamond tiling, that the tripod is a it of a pain as its only good to a certain height too. i gave got the laser pole from tradetiler which is identical to the dewalt one. they are really handy! You could use an 'easy prop' for a cheaper option but they can be a pain when you only want to lower/higher the laser a couple of mil and you have to faff abount realigning whereas the poles have an easy slide adjust system.

Hi. defo worth getting one. Get on that levels itself so you dont have to mess about leveling it up yourself everytime you get it out. Just switch on and your off. I have a good stanley one cost me about £100. Think screwfix do them now for about £60 or £70.

i bought one off ebay £20 delivered self levelling with horizontal and vertical lines, does the job, gets my work bang on everytime, maybe worth while buying a cheap one first to see how you get on.

Anyone else got one of these lasers and if so what are they like? I looked at one in a tool shop today for £70, with my discount it would be about £55, I don't like gimmicky tools so any feedback would be welcome before I spend the dosh.

Got a PLS 180 is a great tool to have in the van !!

Got the PLS 180, my favourite bit of kit. I did a ot of research before buying and the PLS came up on top. Pasific Laser Systems only make lasers - think there from the U.S and have a brilliant track record. Like someone else has mentioned, a lot of tradesmen use them. I would avoid the really ceap one. Wth a laser you ae paying for the accuracy, so make sure the one you go for stacks up well.
