Guys,

Any tips that I should know about laying tumbled marble onto a conservatory floor?

Obviously seal them, wet cut etc... but what is the best adhesive for them etc?

Cheers

Hi APM

I only layed nat stone first time other day it was Tumbled travertine and i used White flexi adh' as it had small holes right the way thru.

Set out well and narrow down on your cutting, make sure you know that there are going to be no small cuts before you start.

You can generally use the same adhesives as usual with most suppliers, but make sure if they are translucent, you use a suitable adhesive colour.

Depending on the finish of the tile, I wouldn't always seal either, only if they need sealing.

Get savvy with electric underfloor heating and you can be doubling your money on conservatory floor jobs with only adding a few hours to the job. 😉 Just for future reference 😀

He he he - I am fully 'up to speed' with the UTH tricks, especially if its a mat system - rapid laying in no time for a decent rate. 🙂

Fortunately for me, the customer wants UTH, and wants the mat system. A nice big conservatory, with all the trimmings, the week before christmas. Perfect timing!!

I have looked at the tiles and it turns out that they are not tumbled marble, but polished. So I have decided not to seal, and to use white rapid set flexi adhesive (as they are white tiles) with a grey flexi grout. I am also going to put a latex levelling compound across the matting, to ensure the tiles are perfect when laid.

As for the setting out, thats standard procedure - 'time is seldom wasted on prep'.

Thanks for the help Admin, and anything else to do with marble I will be interested to know about in case I have missed anything.

😀

Seal it mate, red wine and white tiles dont go!!! You can seal them with the right stuff and hardly change the apperance of them.

Cheers trevortine - but if they are polished marble, they dont need sealed do they? 😕

All light coloured tiles should be back scimmed (about 1mm) as well as the trowling to stop any shading from the adhesive showing through, always seal them, Make sure you only use non acidic products as all travertine, limestone and marble are PH neutral tiles. Use an acid product and it knackers them.

yea seal them mate and white adh wont hurt marble is not hard to lay or cut most cases.but it should be nothing to worry about they are all tiles after all
take your time sit back and enjoy then signwrite your van (marle specialist) lol:coffee: nato standard
