Hi all,

Just in the proccess of finishing some repairs to some cracked travatine, the builder Im doing the works for has asked me to go over the whole area and fill any holes (most 2-3mm) there are quiet a fe but its not too sad.

Now, the buider has told me that there supplier said to use grout for the filing.
After alittle search on here it seem that epoxy is much better.

If it were up to me I would use epoxy but Im guessing its a fair amount more work?
The hole filling needs to be done tomorrow so I can go back Saturday to seal.

All I can do is advise my client but if Im told to use grout will this be ok?
If we do use grout I was thinking of a strong mix with GT1

Many thanks

As long as the holes are not too big it will be fine. I usually grout the holes in when working with travertine anyway.

Cheers Sir Ramic, thats good to know.

Ive done this too with the smaller tumbled more sponge like trav, just wasnt sure about it on a floor, they are a large format filled and polished Trav, not the best quality and the holes were not there when laid.

C2 will be too coarse Im thinking, maybe a Limstone or Ivory flexable wall grout would be better?

I usuallly use Mapei and never had issues, either Jasmine or Beige. I used Bal Limestone too which was ok but had a few joints crack.

I usually use flexi grout too, if I am fixing trav with 3mm narrow joints, I use a very fine stone grout made by Weber called Stoneset col: Limestone to fill minute holes because it is like a filler paste and not gritty, it's very flexible, almost rubbery in texture. I use it to fill holes, as you can smooth it with a spatula or putty knife to make it flush with the tile face to look exactly the same as the filler put in by the manufacturers.

Good afternoon Sir Ramic,
Could you please advise how to upload pictures of work?
Thanks
