Just a general question as ive got the same one on TTA at the mo
Do you have rules and standards in regard to glass (all one sheet not tiles) splash backs in relation to gas cookers
as they must have a non combustible surface behind glass or stainless steel and does this imply to glass tiles
Right seems we have an answer ,if the gas hot plates are within 200mm of the splash back and glass or stainless steel are used (glass tiles included) then the substrate behind must be fire resistant not p/b or cement sheet
normal ceramic tiles do not require this action
this is AUS standards
so it prob means diddly squat to anyone over there but thought i would let you know
apparently this rule has been brought in due to a few house fires caused by faulty installations
