I believe that poltergeists have one rational explanation. Some of them, at least, can be caused by a child in the home, who has either unrealized or not yet controlled telekinetic abilities. Telekinesis is reachable by the subconscious mind, and so if a child has the ability and is angry, there is the possibility that the child can express anger subconsciously by moving objects with telekinesis, without consciously realizing it.

Working on a house nearly thirty years in Bishop Storford, it was'nt that old a house but the stair way was in the centre of the large hallway with the landing running across the top of the stairs.

Coming down the stairs and for some reason turned and looked at one end of the landing and a lady wearing 18 century dress floating across the landing, I was out of there like an exocet missile but did'nt tell the guys I was with.

Quite simply Dave, it cant.

No "force" could boil water, its a kettle and someone found it to be full of boiling with the lead out, so the lead was removed after it had boiled.

Nope.. we were all watching telly and it boiled.... 5 of us.. so plenty witnesses..

Another time.. boxing day..


We had a plastic holly branch thingy.. it was about 2.5 ft long and was tucked in behind a large brass framed mirror.. so about a ft of the stalk was behind the mirror..

All of us..7 of us were in the room and then all of a sudden the cat growled and then the holly shot around 14 ft across the room...

So not just one person with an imagination.. i agree some people will think ye right and i was one of those till we lived in this particular house..

Loads and loads of things went on in that house till we moved..

The boiled kettle that was not plugged, how does anyone know that it wasn't done by the brain and the mind? They dont but its a far more plausible explanation than the word poltergeist which is just a German word meaning 'noisy ghost'

A bit to heavy for me all this, If your faith gives you comfort. Thats fine but a lot of people make lots of money preying on the vunerable. I used to do a party trick involving playing cards, I would say to the person having the bogus reading, things like. " you have had troubles lately, you are not feeling appreciated, you have lost someone close in the last few years", does the letter J mean anything John, Jack, Joe, Jean, Jannis Joan etc. Mind games imo until someone gives me 100% proof I remain a sceptic each to their own, may your god go with you.

So if she was floating then she was not obeying gravity, but her clothes were? Why were they not floating away from her, its makes no sense at all.
And ghosts can make noises yet have no voicebox or functioning brain or blood or skin yet the clothes manage to stay put on an image with no skeleton. They should be forever falling through solid floors if they can walk through a door so does that mean that make decisions to float on this floor but fall through that one?, if so they must have a brain and that would be solid meaning that it would cause a bump as they walked through a door.

A few months ago I went to cost up a job in Throgmorton Ave, just round the corner from the bank of England. I met the surveyor there and it was like walking back in time. It was down 3 flights of stairs and then it opened up into a massive bar, which had been empty for years. Not only did it smell terrible..damp damp and more damp, it just looked like someone had shut up shop one day and never gone back. There was a long corridor leading to the back of the building, which in actual fact was about half a mile. So there we were with torches going down this corridor, when there was a wisp of white that just was floating at the end. That was it....I legged it so fast out that building with the surveyor racing after me. We got outside, and he looked in a worse state than me. Needless to say we never quoted for the job.

So your walking down a dark corridor carrying torches and you see a wisp of white floating at the end of it? The beam of your torch springs to mind.
Done lots of work in that very same area, never saw a thing out of the ordinary.

never seen a ghost but when my i stayed at my granparents when i was a wee boy she used to make me close the curtains in the back room because that was were the sun rose,the first time i stayed with my grandad after she died i left the curtains open as i prefer and when i woke up they were closed and my grandad to this day says it wasn't him!

also when we got the oldest rabbit put to sleep a few wks ago the knife we used to cut his veg every night for 5 years has since disappeared we used it about an hour before we took him to the vet and now the knife block is missing a knife

this is an interesting thread, thers a lot we understand but theres a lot more we dont

Doms right , the brain is a powerfull bit of kit and we only use part of it, if the brain is capable of telekenisis then its capable of a lot of other things too

another thing we dont fully understand is time, we understand the measuring of time and that it moves forward but thats it, there could be another dimension to time we dont understand and our brains may be able to tune into this and pick up on past and future events

theres a whole lot we dont understand and cant explain and thats good enough for me, i neither deny or believe i just accept it as part of lifes rich tapestry

Oh yeah, I've had that. loosing a trowel I had in my hand 2 minutes ago. Look for 20 minutes and it comes back from la-la land and is exactly where I left it again. Very strange.

And pencils! Don't ask me about pencils! - They come and go from another dimension. I used to loose a good 3 a day. Then find them all in the van/toolbox/washboy/whatever - that's spooky!
