Day work meterage

This is a dark area .what is considered amount of" meterage", generally needed to be done on day work .I know all work differs .but just on general "tiling" ?

Is there such a thing as "general" tiling? For example, the bathroom I'm doing at the moment only has 3 rows of whole tiles 600 x 300, everything else is cut and that means a walk around the house and up the drive because the owners don't want me cutting in or around the house!

I'd consider that ungeneral as most bathrooms generally have more tiles .general bathrooms have 8 to 15m2 I can tile a 15m2 bathroom in a day but I'm not doing that for day work money .

I'm gonna say yeah 5m is ok the customer sounds like a tee I tee I can understand wanting u to cut outside but making u walk down the driveway that's a bit if a joke

5m2 a day isn't enough in my opinion for standard ceramics in a bathroom , every job is different but I would not be happy if I was paying someone and they were only turning out on average 5 m2 per day over a a week

I've never worked comercial I've always thought of it as a completely different job to domestic stuff biggest floor I've ever done was 100M 600 x 600 took me 10 days on my own which feels pretty embarrassing if bad boy stef is knocking out 40 a day lol

Stef if you had someone working with you on the big floor and they did 5m2 would you be happy ?
I wouldn't be happy Gary but I read the thread as "Is 5m2 ok"??
There's too many variables to consider in a thread with that title.
The walls I was going over today weren't very clever, I had to pack out quite a few areas that ultimately slows you down.
If I'm on a big flat floor with good tiles then I will hit 40m2 but if the floor is bad then you could be down to 10m2.

Tricky question! I've knocked out 40sqm of 60x60 rectified in a day on my own recently but on a good floor with RLS clips. Other times I've done a single sqm of Original Style in a day.
Doing a monster ensuite at the moment with a mix of 800x800 / 1200x250 / 3.2m x 1.6m - there will only be 2 No. 800x800 without any cuts, absolutely everything else will be cut / edged / drilled / mitred. So 5sqm a day in this room would be great!

A standard bathroom - reasonable walls and floor with approx 25sqm of 60x30 tiles I'd want that done in 3 days personally but I'd charge for more!

The thread says general tiling .not 80 m2 floors most house don't have that .I'm a tiler of 20 years is it ok to be questioned on tiling for instance a 15m2 bathroom in a day and charging 500 quid .

If you have agreed a price before hand & do 15m2 then that's life.
Has the homeowner spat the dummy at the amount you are making from the job?

Technically it's fine, but always a moral dilemma for some

When you say on your own, I assume you actually mean on your own and not including a labourer? I'd say 40 sqr in a standard day (8 till 4 for me with about 40 mins break in total) bearing in mind picking and sorting tiles, mixing up, cleaning tools is probably impossible with a quality finish. as for 5sq a day, in a bathroom say with metal trims around a window etc yes but straight forward with reasonable walls you want to be double that really.

I'm going to ask again in this thread ?
£40 m2 ,ok no probs , if your knocking out 45m2 a week , easy work for some of you boys , that's 72 grand a year ,that's working teacher weeks (12 weeks hols) so even working normal tradesman weeks, 4 weeks hols and a odd day here and there, still gonna be 72 grand a year.is that not 40% tax ?
And none of this , "we may not have work some weeks"
I've employed 2 lads for over tens years , never been short of work , so if your good your never out of work (hardly)
@timeless john am I getting back to myself yet 🙂

An average isn't on 40 mts per day or 200 mts for a 5 day week. It's on how much you want to earn or how much your getting paid on daily basis. So if your getting £1000 per 5 day week your on £200 per day and @ £20/mt you need to be doing 10 mts a day to justify your wage.
5sq mts in a splashback is a day's work so you'd need to be on £40 a mt to equal that daily rate.
There is no average meterage just average wages, and to that end making sure you earn your wage and a bit of profit for the company.

9-13 sqm a day if you want to make good days money.Today finished bathroom 500x 200 ceramic tiles 23 sqm, started at 8 o'clock and finished at 3 o'clock.
