we all get them from time to time Phil, I must admit iv'e become quite good at sussing people out now, and if I think there going to be a pain I don't even bother quoting the job, even if I got no work on, would sooner sit on my butt than go through all the bloody stress it causes.

I hope tomorrow goes well, (I won't hold my breath) I have had two sleepless nights and another one looming, we should not have to put up with this kind of stuff. Stuff being a polite word, as I respect this forum and it's members.
We are all at the mercy of these types, and always will be.
I am not expecting a good result tomorrow, but I am thinking of throwing my tools in a skip. What is the point?

Phill most of us on here are very passionate about the tiles but sometimes you just need to realise it's just tiles! Get some sleep man and give yourself a break, you have nothing to prove to anyone man, let this one go, get your money then get on to the next job where I'm sure it will be a cracker! Seriously phill... It's just tiles
Chin up Phill, I had "one of these idiots " last year.It was only 4 days work and managed to get my mats money back but it still really upset me knowing i hadnt done anything wrong and knew the work was more than satisfactory.Didnt get paid for labour !! I still think about revenge of some sort to be honest but there are people like this in every town and city and the odds are we will all bump into one every now and again-unfortunatly !!! Hopefully she pays you up to date, worse still if you've paid others for the work out of your own pocket. A job like this seems to rear it's head every few years, grin and bear it and the next customer will be a good one.

You sure shes got the money, she is finding fault to first class work and making excuses that it is'nt good enough...is that to avoid paying due to fact she may skint.
And the deposit in the lav maybe an excuse she was looking for.

Good news is I still have my freedom and my pride, bad news is I am about three grand out of pocket with my own lost wages/ materials and payments to other tilers.
I will be another £900 plus if she doesn't pay the tiler who started this job with me, I will have to pay him. My conscience won't let him suffer, she has asked me to leave the job and I have done so.
I offered to complete the job FOC, but she refused, she thinks we have dragged it out to long, she is now going to get another tiler to finish it.
The work we did was top class, I know that, I left the job today, conducted myself like a gentleman, even though I was seething inside.
We live and learn, do we not?
I now have to pick myself up and get on, but we are all open to these people, I feel like throwing my tools away, and giving up.
But I won't, that would mean she beat me. I could go down the legal route, but I have no faith in it.

I train with a solicitor most mornings,he won't be there tomorrow (bloody hard circuit,he too old 🙂 )he will be there on Friday,I will ask him if there's owt you can do .
I also have a mate from Oldham (he now lives in London) he was with the Oldham lads football firm,I'm sure he will know someone to put her windows through

so sorry to hear this news Phil,but you did the right thing in walking imo,but dont let her get away with it ,its a pitywe couldnt put a warning out to other tilers in that area,onehel of a biach and should not get away with it
