Busiest in 4 years.. Recession over.. official

I'm Booked with large multi room projects until March, there's a buzz in the air.. who's doing what and who's noticed the difference ?

To be honest I've not noticed a slowdown in Manchester! domestic work just keeps coming!!
I've passed quite a bit if work on to other lads aswell...

I'm booked to mid February and more to book in yet , I've been flat out and even more hectic in the run up to Xmas . Manic manic

I haven't had many empty slots in the diary for the last couple of years. I'm waiting for confirmation of a job for February and that's me sorted til June then. I've had to turn down 2 small jobs today that the customers want doing before Christmas, I can't even fit small jobs in unless I work Sundays, which isn't happening.

Had a good year here too, been working 9 saturdays out of 10 and a lot of late nights and took another tiler on, hopefully keeps building. The longest I'd ever be booked up is about 6 weeks but with the two of us we can get a lot more done and accommodate the Northern Ireland last minute panic culture rather than turning decent paying work down.

15 hotel en-suites to do at Lindeth Howe in Bowness, not a lot of tiling in them, but the timescale is tight:yikes:, probably need to turn each one round in 10 hours.

No space left till Xmas then few bathroom refurbs to do January, end of January it's off to Doug Boardley country to start on a huge hotel bathroom refurb, enough work for 5 or six years throughout the chain.

Leave me alone , NO,! I cannot do your tiling before Xmas , why do peeps think tilers are quiet ?.

Oh! Good to see you busy I get ...

On another note , just landed 5 full houses to do next yr as well.

Keep it coming I say.🙂

So, it seems the recession is over, as its the busiest its been for a few years, if you're not busy.............. you're doing it wrong ;-)

There's tons of work out there, loads of new builds and extensions going up round here. I've got my heart set on a new van in September, hope it works out.

Is it a Robin reliant.. Bri ?? you won't get a TX1200 in there though, are you getting a sidecar ??

If its happening in ' Grantham ' its happening everywhere, trust me

Had nothing in for January yet, then a builder rang me today with two houses and another call half an hour later to do another 75m :hurray:

oh bugger!, is a builder a step up or a step down from a plumber?

This fella's great, everything's ready on time and he's round with the cheque book when you're grouting.

I have seen an upturn for sure, I am snowed under with cost engineering for large scale projects at the moment. Yes the market is moving for sure, its long overdue.

what a stupid thing to say...

I know plenty of good tradesmen that are up and down like a yo-yo, and have been for the past 3/4 years..

is the recession over ?.....I hope so, but just cause your not booked up for 5 months, I wouldn't say your doing something wrong...

and by the way im fine for work...as busy as I want to be, but I know plenty of good tilers still scratching round for work, as they ring me to see if I need a hand on a regular basses ...

I just want to add something, to what Andy has quite rightly said, location is everything, some areas of the country have picked up yet others are still in a deep recession. However the market may be picking up but the rates are still at recession levels...I havent seen a shift there, thats for sure.

I will wait and see what next year brings , yes I have been busy but as the builders are picking up loads of work they are getting really bad at paying on time I have turned down one big job for next year as the builder was a nightmare on payment

new van bri!!
wtf
how old is the beauty in the picture!
surely a work van is just that and judging by your current van your private drive will be something tasty.
i always buy new and write them off after 7 years.
I have employees that share my vans so they do not get looked after as well as you might.
but to me a vauxhall vivaro sportive or similar is a good compromise and i do not feel the need to change every few years.
if i did i would not get much money for them because they are full of adhesive but still mechanically good because i service regular

all good here ,booked up till late may ,and could work 7 days a week down here ,turning things away
two weeks off for xmas and cant wait
