I am installing UFH in a conservatory as the primary heat source. The area is just under 8 sq meters. The current base is chipboard.

I want to use a good but economical insulation/backer board?

Can anyone help with the some independent advice on which board provides a good balance between cost and insulation?

I have considered Warmup, Thermopanel, Marmox, Hardibacker & Eko Board.

Eko Board seems the most cost effective but how does it compare insulation wise to Warmup?

Many thanks....

As far as I'm aware, Warmup, Ekoboard and Marmox all have pretty much the same insulation ratings. Not sure about the other 2

The current base is chipboard...?....Is this onto joists or is it a floating floor.?

Just checked and the chipboard is screwed at intervals so that means joists right?

It normally does yes...

THen you can contact Uheat for excellent prices on insulation boards and UFH mats or loose cable sytems...

The insulation levels are about the same for each type of board.

The cheaper Ekoboard should be fine but you may want to go for the Thermopanel as this will give you a bit more strength to the floor as they are reinforced.
