Morning guys,

After some advce on tiling our bathroom floor and walls.

We have decided on slate tiles 40x40 calibrated slate, can we tile straight onto the plastered wall (multi finish)

And can I use 6mm hardibacker boards for the floor ? Or would I need the 12mm?

Floor size is 5m2 (floor boards)

We have stud wall at shower end of bath what water resistant board would you recommend ?

Thanks

welcome to the forum, fast answer, absolutley noway can you put those tiles on a plastered wall
please read Tiles and Adhesive Weight Per Square Metre - THE TILE SOURCE
Any water resistant board will do, what ever is availale from your local tile shop, not diy chain

what Dave said Adam. As for the floor, glass of water on the floor and jump on the floor, see how much movement there is

How long is a piece of string.. we cannot see what you can.. so it is upto you to decide this..🙂

Thanks Dave another question I'm setting up the shower diverter so I'm left with enough thread once we have tiled to screw the front plate on, can anyone let me know how much adhesive is needed tile size is now 300x300 10mm thick, at the moment I ve fitted the 12mm hardiebacker and used a bit of 12mm plaster board acting as my tile but unsure on how much extra I should leave for adhesive ?

Thanks

When I tiled mine I had no problem. I used a Showepl8 and the nixer gear fixed to a half inch pipes that came out through the plate. I simply made sure that the plate wa well back and left 9 inch of pipe sticking out until I finished tiling. Sounds like you are having to think carefully.
