So, this job has been rearranged 3 times now. Prices were agreed 3 months ago. i got a call last week from the builder's office trying to chip me down. I told them absolutely not. i then emailed them that i want the prices confirmed via email. i heard nothing back. that was last wednesday and i was due to start tomorrow. i've spoken to Kwik split and the tile shop they're using and nothing has been ordered yet. Pi***d off is an understatement!!
I called them today to tell them i've now booked other work in and next available dates are mid April.
They can't wait until then and i can't risk it not starting again.

Typical tactic from main contractor Harry thinks that you will take a lower price as you don't have other work lined up, play him at his own game , they aren't many tilers with the know how and skill to pull off a job like this and the ones that can do it know what to charge ,some charge the same price as what the tiles cost to install so you guy is in for a surprise when he gets other prices

Luckily I've got plenty of other stuff to do and the guys I booked in to do it with me have just picked up a pool.
It could have been very different though, as the other guys and myself knocked back a few jobs to accommodate this. Never had that tactic played on me before, must have been lucky.

This job is now, finally, nailed down! Starting on the 2nd May. All labour is lined up, as they won't be one man lifts. Got my plan together and tools are en route.
