After everything I have said about ghosts being a load of tosh and make believe for impressionable people I feel I should relate a true story to all of you, its only fair that I pass this story on because at least then I feel that I have accepted that some things are a bit spooky.



Turn the lights off and light a candle for effects.


I was in a working man's club many years ago, they were holding a race meeting where you could bet on videos of horse races from long ago, we had a great night that finished in the early hours of a Sunday.
I decided to walk home and get some fresh air so I set off on my way. After about 15 minutes I was near to the entrance of Crewe Cemetery, I looked at the fence and decided to climb over and walk through, this would save me at least half an hour in getting home. Walking through the cemetery would not bother me as I had done it many times, after all who is going to bother you in a place like that.
I had been walking for about 5 minutes when I heard a faint 'tap tap tap' in the near distance, slightly puzzled but not frightened I carried on, again I heard that noise, 'tap tap tap' I had a good look around but could see nothing as it was pitch black.
Shrugging it off and carrying on I only went another few feet before I heard it again, only this time much closer, in fact very close. I peered through the gloom and realized I was seeing a form of a man near to a headstone, he or it was crouching down and was dressed all in black, the hairs on the back of my neck suddenly went rigid and a cold shiver ran down my spine. I was suddenly very alert and felt strangely vulnerable.
"what the hell is that" I thought, I should have turned and ran but an unseen force had gripped me and I stood frozen to the spot as this 'thing' turned and looked straight into my eyes. It slowly walked towards me and stopped inches from my face, its breath was acrid and I felt like being sick. Then I realized it was just an old tramp that must sleep in the cemetery at night. "Jesus mate, you scared the hell out of me" I said, "what are you doing in here at such a late hour?"
"nothing much" said the old man, " I am just changing the spelling on this headstone"
"Now I really dont think you should be doing that" I said, in a Harry Enfield sort of way, "you will get into trouble.........whats wrong with the headstone anyway?" I asked.
"nothing much" said the old man, "its just that they have spelt my name wrong!"

there used to be a old local hospital called westcliff ( packmoor, Stoke On Trent) it shut down a long time ago. when I was younger I spent a bit off time knocking about in there. on this one occasion me and few frend were just talking and I could hear a scraping noise.I told the people (4 others)I was with and they thought I was joking. they stoped talking and they started to hear the same noise. then no word of lie a chair started moving across the floor it started realy slowly in one direction and then all of a sudden, turned and came stright at us . I have had loads of things happen to me but it would take ages to tell you them all.
but if this thread gets big I might type a few up.

Thats easy to explain, some other guys were already in there just waiting for some kids to turn up so that they could scare the bejasus out of them.
They probably had fishing line connected to the chair, done it myself with my mates in an old hostel in Crewe.

Interesting adam!....if thats what u saw m8,then thats what u experienced...i was of the understanding this thread was about whether youve seen a ghost...not whether we are deluded or wrong..lol...i think there are some sceptics amongst us:smilewinkgrin:...i to have heard things that dont match up at all...never seen anything..but definately heard an old mans cough downstairs in my in laws house and me and dawn we,re the only people there,she heard exactly the same...i mean how do we percieve reality..anything could be questioned,its when something odd happens that things stand out...ie...seeing chairs move and hearing disinbodied noises...i dont know how they occure or by what means...but ive been witness to some events,spoken to people that have no reason to lie..ive come to understand through certain knowledge that the dead are dead,so if its not deceased loved ones,then what?!....it wasnt until recently..(few hundred yrs) that we discovered that messages and wavelengths are carried in the ether...hence how you get telecommunication...tele-meaning...distant/far away...so when peopel say from the otherside" they are suggesting theres something in the invisible...i eman who knows for sure...but i dont think theres enough "fishing line" to explain all the events that have happened to people in the world:lol:

We drove down the road to a 90 degree left turn, and we both said at the same time, ' see that bloke diving under the car on the bend!'

The old childrens hospital wall was over 15 feet high. Jumped out, I went left, Nick right, no person! A ghost................who knows.

Another road over the back we used to park up in the early morning for a nap. We always heard cries, like little kids in pain!

Recently my mate and I were tiling in an old farm house. It was being refurbed, it's the one I have just put in my albums. The one with the well in the kitchen floor,(1700s) one day when we were working late we heard some strange noises coming from the cellar. I volunteered to go investigate, I handed my mate a piece of 3"x2" and said "if two horrible screaming things come running up the stairs, let the first one through" that will be me.:lol:
