what are the signs of a problem client /.got a much cheaper price/ .my tilers to busy/.this how you should do it /.dont worry just selling it/.its really easy wont take you long /loads of unfinished work./ how long you want that much for a few days work./ what makes you walk away:yikes:

I dont like working for general know-it-alls you have "done a bit of tiling" before. They seem to question any materials they have never heard of. Tiling is specialist and they cant understand it :mad2:

Well i would say and have said
got a much cheaper price ----well why did you call me then i don't do cheap jobs
You have done a bit of tiling before ---- Yes a over a million mts have you?
My tilers to busy ---Did you pay him last time?
How long ----- Until its finished
This is how you do it ---- Great you don't need me
How much what do you earn a day ---- Well how much do you earn a day? have said this one quite a few times never had an answer yet

Good thread Ray, I have had this one a few times. Customer, " I need this job doing ASAP" me, " I have six weeks work in front of me", customer, " you can work nights and weekends, we don't go to bed until after midnight" me, " how very considerate of you", "bye".:mad2::thumbsup:

every other trade is three weeks late. but you must finish on time .our you have delayed the job read the contract

clients who still think trades people are two a penny .went to look at job in sloan square knock on door client looks at me like dog mess says are you going to take your shoes off looked him in the eyes and said why your carpets dirty:8:

Some don't mind earning millions a year because they are good at what they do but don't like paying you because your good at what you do glad there are still a few with brains that want a good job

When we hear someone is cheaper, we say well I hope they're using materials as good a quality as we do then, best of luck matey, half the time we still get the job. And a few times we've had I do a bit myself, and start getting advice how to do my job, then I've said you seem to know about the job more than me so why don't I just pack my tools and you do it yourself, don't hear another peep after that! And I HATE it when customers stand and watch me work, feel like asking if I have a T.V on my head but I try to keep it polite and just say it makes me uncomfortably being watched, some take it well, some say it's my house I'll do what I want, that's when I tip the boss off and he'll call the customer and say leave us alone or we'll walk. Never walked off a job yet! Well there was this one time but that's another story, we offered to walk, customer begged us to carry on, came in next day and asked us to leave, power thing or medication issues, whatever, we couldn't get our gear and ourselves off the job quick enough!

client that did not take very long .only took me twenty years to get that quick:8:

I normally glance around their house when I go to measure up ,If they have a nicely finished home then its normally a sign they will want their tiling to be nicely done too and are happy to pay the rates ,when you see loads of stuff half finished and they say they have bought the tiles from the internet or discount tile outlet its normally a sign they are more worried about the price than the quality of the finish,

client i will pay you this much/ .really so iam only tilling that wall then

Did you find difficult customers more at the higher end of the market place or the lower end ?or did you find loonies at all levels ?

We have a shop here called Right Price Tiles, they don't entertain proffesional outfits with accounts and discounts, just offer cheap materials, rubbish thin tiles, a wedi copy, non named grout and glue, we shudder when a customer says they've chosen their tiles from there, we tell them it's rubbish quality but they just see the cheapness to their budget, we'll lay anything but outright refuse to use their grout and glue. The wedi copy passes the regs but I don't see how.

client how can we save some money ./ you could sell your brand new range rover and get a moped:8:
