i live near Wickford Essex, and am gonna go on a 5 day starter course to see if tiling is something i may wish to pursue, or just for DIY i like the idea of doing something practical that i can look at and say yep well nice i done that, and if i'm any good then may start looking to building my empire, anyway back to the question which training center would you recommend, thanks

Hi and welcome :welcome: I went to NETT which was brilliant, but Dave's link will show more local ones for you. Haven't regretted doing the course for one minute... good luck to you!

ok bit confused has my question been deleted as i cant find it after it has been moved or am i lost thanks

Hi welcome to the Forums.

Please feel free to give me a call at the centre anytime,I will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the courses that we offer.

We also have some fantastic offers on at the moment.

Regards

I also went to NETT (north East Tiler Training) and because it’s the only tiling course I have done that is the only one I can recommend. Have a look at the course feedback forum for a bit more info.

Good luck

thanks everyone gonna go with able skills as local and seen there center, also read a lot on the forum and lots of praise for it, will get back and let you know how i get on. either plumbing or tiling.

Professional Tiling Courses – Wall and Floor Tiling Course

I cant recommend these guys enough. the MD is from Essex and travels in every day so its no biggie! they dont only do tiling courses but carpentry, plastering to mention just a few. and the big hook is you dont only get a center certificate that, lets be honest ain't really much use in the real world but instead you are entered for you NVQ

Thanks for the nice words of support Dean, looking forward to having you back next month and learning some more interesting facts about water ha ha

Throughout this site I have read good reviews about N.E.T.T. 2 Weeks of training seems a little short to me. Could someone tell me if training is hands-on or theory based ? I am looking at redundancy in the near future and would like to re-train as a tiler. But like many people at this time am a little worried about spending money on a course which only teaches the job in theory.
I did a one weeks foundation in tiling last year, and did no more than I have already done at home.
I know that a nvq is out of the question for a few years, but I would like to gain a recognized qualification and know that I have already practised the work that I would be taking on, to have the confidence to start tiling in customers homes.
All of the big tiling centre's that are regularly spoken of and reviewed on this site seem to offer really good courses, but how long does it take to train as a competent tiler ?

Hi Dale,

We are able to offer NVQ level 2 on our 6 week course. You will be registered onto the NVQ programme on the first day of your course and throughout the course your tutor will begin compiling your portfolio, so that by the time you complete your course you are ready for your on site assessments.

Hope this helps

Great. Thanks for the reply Danny.
I live in the West Midlands near Birmingham, would on site assessment be a problem ?

Hi mate if your looking for a cost effective fast track route into tiling as a career thats what we deliver, we have hundreds of people on here that have made a business from the course we deliver, the structure of the course is perfectly ballanced with all the background theory you need all covered in detail and all pre typed up for you in their headings just in case you forget what to do once you leave the course, all you have to do is go to the background you need to prepare in your info book and follow the step by step guides, all practical hands on situations are covered on the course as well, you will go through a full running of a business from keeping acounts to trade accounts, prices and customer estimates, so whatever problems you encounter you should be able to understand it, prepare it then tile it, check out the feedback section of the forum or pm anyone that has done our course for personal advice

Hi Dale,

No mate the on site assessment will not be a problem, we have a large team of assessors traveling all over the UK everyday.

Your assessments can be arranged as soon as you have completed our course.

Our course is mostly practical based, with all relevant theory delivered in our fully equipped classrooms by trained professionals.

We also have business start up professionals in to deliver that side of things so that you leave the centre ready to start trading from day one.

Regards
