I'm looking to tile around a multi fuel stove (4kw) and am unsure about which tile to use. I assume the tile must be porcelain to resist heat. I have an option of porcelain mosaic tiles but they are glazed and therefore I'm worried about the amount of grout and the glaze cracking, not to mention very pricey. Are they suitable to use? I'm ideally looking for a red (with an orange tinge) porcelain tile which seems not to exist in Northern Ireland. Has anyone come across one? Ideally looking 10 x 10. Mosaic seems a very expensive option at this stage.

Thanks

Tiles are fired to higher temps that what they will be exposed to with that stove IMO.... no naked flames etc will blast them..

Most tile adhesives are ok to around 100 dgs cel.. so i would think about that rather than the tiles..

Thanks for that David. Found the wall tiles so that's sorted. I've read about some good adhesives but would take any recommendations.

Would also be keen to know what the thinking is on the tiles under the stove. I've found ones I like but they're only 8mm thick. I've read that you really need 12mm but I would be tiling over existing tiles and raising the hearth so presumably I have the requirements for building control.

Regards
Mcfro
