You’re totally right. Can’t say I’m not gutted as I’ve tanked the wet area now. But I like sleeping at night so I’ll do what you’ve suggested and just retank the joins when I’m done. So stressed I need to finish this job by Sunday.I would take down the jackoboard on the stud work and refit but sticking it with some rapidset.
Screw back through your studwork and fix again using some spring toggle fixings midway between the studs leaving you with a 200mm centre fixing.
Best be safe than sorry especially with that size/weight tile.
unfortunately not.. I’d have glued it if I knew.. oh well. A lesson learned. Again hahaOn the plus side, you’re learning.
I know you posted a thread on this before you did the work. Did none of us mention that it needed gluing?

I think I love you man haha good idea I will do that. Thank you..If it’s already tanked why not just reduce the spacing with spring toggle fixings.
Combined with the washers this will give you a really good strong fixing to the background.

Exactly. If it overruns I’ll just have to work evenings til it’s finishedNo point rushing it, the only thing to be learnt by rushing is to cut corners and make mistakes.
Would you use toggle fixings over hollow wall anchors? If it’s already tanked why not just reduce the spacing with spring toggle fixings.

Cool I’ll go b&q in the morningI would. Nice and tight pull.
Yeah I’m a bit anal when it comes to tanking.. mainly because I deal with leaks all the time in bathrooms so I like to make sure my work is leak free..Just make sure the walls are spot on, you need 100% coverage on those tiles in the wet area.
I’ve not fixed tiles that size before and I would be double checking everything before I even took one from the box.
Don’t rush the tanking stage either that needs to be spot on otherwise that’s going to cost big time!
Progress pics too please 😀
When trowling the other boards, you think a 6mm is too small? Would you go with 8mm?Just make sure the walls are spot on, you need 100% coverage on those tiles in the wet area.

Haha yes.. it sticks out by about 3-4mm which should fit within the adhesive as I’m using a 10mm trowel for those big tiles and back buttering the tiles as well. Unless you think I need to do something different? Bas**** builders stacked 3 plasterboards on top of each other so had to go get longer m6 screws to fit the toggles on the wall the shower is on 😡Last night I nearly mentioned about spring toggles having a bolt instead of a screw which means the screws aren’t countersunk into the washer. I see you’ve found that out.
Of course..I take it you're laying a waterproof membrane over the former?

Hahaha the Impey former comes with it allHe is now you’ve mentioned it!
