I was chatting to a mate of mine who is a tiler about tiling bathrooms, anyway i was telling him that i always silicon, around the bath, down the corners of the walls, around the door frame, and where the wall tiles meet the floor tiles and use caulk around the ceiling..anyway he laughed at me and said he only puts silicon around bath because he uses flexible grout so it dosent need silicon on the other areas...:huh2: WHO ELSE DOES THIS...

Since joining the forum, one of the things I read was about how corners should be siloconed, not grouted.

I am not a pro tiler and haven't been on a course any my knowledge is really limited.

Since i read on here about siliconing corners i found myself looking at the corners of any tiled rooms i went into...

Even the toilets in Pizza Hut yesterday, how wierd is that!!!!!

Anyway, to get to the point.. They were all grouted, not one did I find Silicon in.

Please understand....Im not saying siliconing in corners instead of grouting is right or wrong. I dont have a clue.

Just passing on an observation.
Funny how you take notice of things when you read about them.

Edit: NOW YOU ALL THINK IM WIERD lol

Been in too many new houses with all the corners cracked cause they have just grouted instead of siliconed.
Silicon all the way Enduro mate, old school tilers think they know it all.

It's logi6260 poking them too much

I wish i'd never said anything now.

Strange how you start to notice things though, since i started planning a tiling career i have found myself subconsciously examining tiled walls and floors to get an idea of finishes etc.

aye, I stared off when I was thinking about tiling that if people we're being paid for some of the tiling jobs I had seen then I should be ok

Silicon for me too in corners, door frames, etc. Think I read it on here that it`s British Standard for 6mm expansion gap due to possible wall movement. To me 6mm is too big and unsightly and I aim for 2-3m gap.

Know what you mean! Even watching a film now if there`s a scene in a kitchen or bathroom then my eye goes to the tiling....OMG how sad!......One exception is when Jessica Alba happens to be standing in the way!!!

Turkish:thumbsup:
